Hopefully we get a solid QB coach to go with Waldron. Wonder if Kubiack might be in play. He is a passing game coordinator or something now, coordinator sounds like a higher level position but I am not even sure all nfl teams have one of these so.....just hoping QB coach is capable of replacing Waldron if he gets a HC position in future.
Kubiak is the 9ers "offensive passing game specialist"...which is apparently different than the offensive passing game coordinator, because it had him listed as that for the Broncos in his bio on the 9ers website. Its interesting that the 9ers have a "offensive run game coordinator" but not an "offensive pass game coordinator". I don't know what the rules are when it comes to that and if "pass game coordinator" would be a promotion or not. It also doesn't seem as if Kubiak has any position coaching responsibilities...so maybe that would be a "promotion" as well?
Another interesting this I saw perusing the 9ers coaching site, Klay Kubiak is the assistant QB coach there, and he is Klints younger brother. He played QB at Colorado State from 2005 to 2009.
Edit: I just checked the Rams coaching roster. They have a "pass game coordinator" AND a "pass game specialist". Zac Robinson is listed as the QB Coach/Pass Game Coordinator, and Jake Peetz is the "Pass Game Specialist"...so I guess they are two different positions and one would be a higher ranking job than the other.
My initial reaction when reading that is that these teams are trying really hard to have the best passing game coaching possible for the player talent they do have. I think that may be one reason why a 7th round draft pick like Purdy has performed as well as he has. Kyle Shanahan has put the best resources into success in the passing game, while by comparison the Bears haven't done it to that level. It kind of makes you sick to think about the feeble effort by the Bears in comparison to some of these top teams.
