Those pass rushers sure stopped Mahomes winning the Super Bowl...
This is terrible on my part. But I'll be honest. I don't care what the Bears do or don't do on defense until they figure out how to build a modern NFL offense here in Chicago. Don't care. Once they get into the 21st century of NFL play by getting the O figured out - yeah, then I will begin caring about defense. Doesn't mean the D isn't important. Doesn't mean you don't need a solid D (you do need it). But let's get the offense right. That is going to take a solid QB1 - as the beginning piece that needs an offense built around him. He can be the foundation piece, but build onto that foundation - players and also good coaches. The whole tamale.
Then worry about D. D has never been an issue here in Chicago. We already have one of the better defenses now. Time to work on investing in offense.
This year offseason needs to focus 200% on the offense. I don't care if the defense takes a back turn. You need a modern NFL team to compete. We've seen a QB win a Super Bowl with a defense rank in the 20's.
7 Hall of Fame QBs won 18 of the last 24 Super Bowls.
Who got the ring in the end? All defenses will get gas sooner or later. It always happens. An elite QB is just unstoppable.
That is obvious bullshit.
LOL, it is hyperbole (I think) from motm. We all, want a complete team. It is just boiling over with frustration regarding the QB/offense woes that have dragged on to the point it has made us crazy...at least it has driven me over the edge. Drafting a QB is not the same as building a great offense - it is a great beginning. We already have some solid pieces on offense, but we all seem to agree on the additional upgrades needed.
We need a great team and that means a great defense and offense. I just want the Bears to prove they CAN build a great offense. I have never seen that happen in the many years I've been a Bears fan. Sure, there have been some good single-seasons (2018 most recently) but it wasn't sustained success on offense. Let's get it done right this time. Do everything possible to get the offense loaded up with good talent. Certainly, give some attention to the defense but put the priority on offense THIS year. Give this new young QB everything he needs to be successful here. Pull out all of the stops this time. In 2025 focus back on defense if needed.

Well, I already said I want Harrison at #1. I don’t mind doubling up and taking Nabers/Odunze at #9, or trading down a bit and taking Powers-Johnson around #18. Or draft one of your other centers in round 3. Get edge rusher in free agency.
i don’t want TE or 4th best WR at #9 instead of Edge or 3-tech. That’s just a poor use of the pick IMO.

I wouldn't normally take a TE that high. But Brock Bowers is special. If the Bears do draft Caleb Williams, what if this guy could be his "Kelce" or "Gronk" - is that level of TE worth that #9 pick? I'd do that in a heartbeat over another defensive guy. And keep in mind that Shane Waldron likes to run a lot of 12 and 13 sets. I think Bowers would be a deadly weapon - especially in the red zone... could be a TD machine.

That is possible. Comparing this guy to Kelce or Gronk is a bit much before he’s played one game. I thought the Falcons overdrafted on Pitts, and that still may prove true. We need to see what he can do if they ever get a QB. A top Edge guy opposite Sweat or Newton would be better overall for the team, but I know you’re all-in for offense. For me, it’s all board dependent once we see who’s there at #9.

That's probably the better approach, and also what the Bears will do. I've always heard that the TE position is a tough transition from college to NFL ball. It can take 2 or 3 years to really mature at the position. But if a talented QB has someone special at TE it is an incredible weapon to have, and for a number of years.

Giants stopped Tom Brady twice...he's the "goat" right?
All the elite QBs have lost games against lesser QBs — often when they run up against an elite defense with an excellent defensive line that harasses their ass all day.
