Goes to show you, he is well respected in this league. Even more reason I see Fields leaving us. Fields was the problem.
He's so respected he was only hired after they couldn't sign their first choice!! If thats "well respected"....well, you and I have different definitions of being well respected. I guess you're also happy when you get an invite to a wedding even though you were on the B list.
I am still trying to understand how one team hiring a guy means he is well respected in the league. Not sure they are always connected.

I'm sure Getsy is highly thought of around the league. Nate Hackett is also highly thought of though too. In coaching 1 and 1 don't always equal 2. You see the same coaches get recycled a lot. I also think there is a difference between being "highly respected" and "highly thought of".
I can also see how some teams might convince themselves that if Getsy had more to work with his offense would have been better. Hell, I've made that argument myself. Doesn't change some of the mind numbingly dumb play calls he made a lot of times in games or some of his astoundingly stupid play designs.
Most people here were saying Harbaugh would never get another chance in the NFL last year during his interviews.
I never thought that. I did think he'd get a better team than the Chargers.
Harbaugh is gonna have the Chargers rolling in a couple years. They have the hardest part (an elite passer) and need to bolster a weak OL and crappy D.
Having a good QB in Justin Herbert was most likely why Harbaugh went over there. QB play is one of the most important things require for winning in the NFL. You look at Herbert number vs Fields. HUGE difference.
Harbaugh always talks up his QB1. Nothing wrong with that. I wonder if he will try to draft JJ McCarthy? He talked like JJ was the greatest QB to ever play the game at any level, LOL.
Have you seen Justin Herbert stats? Multiple 4k passing years as well as one 5k passing season. He's what so many Bear fans pretend Fields is. A legit good QB who needs the right coaching.
His lowest season is 3.1k passing while Fields highest season is 2.5k passing.
If that was the case, he wouldn't of had multiple interviews with multiple teams. He is also ranked #5 in scripted plays with Justin Fields as his QB.
We like to scapgoat Getsy as the guy who was 100% at fault for this offense but was he really? The way the league just made him OC again after his supposed horrible offense shows me Fields is more of the problem.
Too bad the whole game isn't scripted. He never showed an ability to adapt and the in game adjustments were often abysmal.
I agree. No question Getsy looked good early in games most weeks and then things went sour about mid-2nd Q or so. Getsy has some stuff to learn about being an OC. Watching MLF get guys open all game like he does only reinforces that.
However, the same trend was visible with Fields' play too. Remember when Justin complained the coaches were making him "robotic"? Well, he looked BEST during the scripted "robotic" plays and not nearly as good afterwards. When asked to make more reads and adjust to what the D was doing, Fields wasn't nearly as good. When called upon to win or tie the game in the 4th, Justin was awful.

Weddings and jobs were different. He got the spot while being a horrible OC to many Bear fans. Its been known to many that Fields was the problem in the league. Its going to make it harder to trade him now going forward. Raiders were one team that might of got him.
