I'm thinking the same thing. Available depth this year in FA seems like it could be thin at quality WR's and pretty decent in the draft. There are some really good WR's that would be a great upgrade for the Bears, that are in that next tier down from the top-3 guys. I don't know about the DE's. Does the talent drop pretty quick in this draft? Maybe that would have some impact on what the Bears do at #9.
Butkus prob knows better than me on this one but from I can gather, it's not a great Edge draft. Looks like there's only ~ 3 clear 1st round guys. Doesn't mean there wont be good players here just that as prospects it doesn't seem deep like WR and QB do.
There's no Myles Garrett or TJ Watt or Aiden Hutchinson definite top-5 type of pick right now.
It wouldn't shock me if Poles took Verse or Turner at 9. Or with a small trade down. I just think if Nabors or Odunze is there, you gotta take that guy for your rookie QB. If all WRs and Bowers are gone (I kinda doubt it but who knows?), then yeah I'd be trying to draft a good edge prospect and you may be able to trade back a little and still get a someone you like.
It just looks like an offensive-heavy draft up top. I could see 8-9 offensive players going in the top-10. Course things are gonna shift if some D players start wowing scouts at their Pro Days.
This is SO hard to peg. I see 3 QBs, 3 WRs, 1 DE, 1 OT

More or less
Too soon to know but that a realistic scenario. I think JJ McCarthy is gonna be a 4th QB in there. Bears, Washington, NE, Vegas, NYG, Denver, and Pitt all need QBs.

Yeah, that could happen too. TE could be before us, more than one OT.... It's just a crapshoot. Emphasis on the crap part when actually trying to know what they will do.

I found this interesting. Williams is only doing medicals during team visits. Apparently the Bears wanted Williams to visit so they had medicals prior to the new league (March 13) when FA started. Williams put it off until March 20 so the Bears won't have information on his medical until then but need to decide whether not to move on from Fields to Williams and field offers for JF.

From what I've read/heard it was a mutual decision to delay the visit.
That IS interesting. The gist I got out of the article was that they would have to put off getting the medical status they needed when they needed it. Not sure why they would not want it sooner rather than later.

That seems to make sense for the Bears to do that. And you'd think there's a pretty decent chance one of the top WR's or Bowers are there at #9. But one way it could break, could be a top LT is there at #9. I understand we all hope Braxton Jones is going to take another step this year (I like him so far... but he is still needing to improve) - but do you take a top LT if that guy falls to #9? From a pure BPA value, it might be tempting if the O skill guys are gone.

You look at this, do you really want Fields as your starter going forward?
A lot of context missing from that. Year 1 Offense by Nagy designed for the Red Rocket as JF1 was supposed to sit. Thrown in and no change of offense. Year 2 purposely stripped team to get thru what Pace left behind. No defense. Awful O line and awful WRs with Mooney as WR1, St Brown as WR2. Getsy 1st yr play caller Year 3 Getsy OC still, 3rd straight yr of weakest in league at Center. Rookie RT, 2nd yr LT, Nate Davis awful, Tevon great when playing. Had Mooney at WR2 his worst season. While WR1 DJ had his best year yet as a pro. Defense sucked 1st 5 games.
