Chicago Bears Dismiss Senior Vice President Cliff Stein

Greg Gabriel is going nuts about this on twitter. Was close to him while working for the Bears. 

"Cliff Stein is one of the finest individuals I’ve ever known. No one has more integrity. Outstanding reputation across League. Did 1000x more than just take care of cap. Involved in everything. Why isn’t he there? He’s too good at what he does and some couldn’t handle that!!!

Last thing. Ryan Poles is an excellent GM and person, he has an excellent plan and I firmly believe he will turn this team into a consistent contender. Support what he does. As for the rest of FO leadership, let’s just say create your own opinion

Those were 3 tweets he posted shortly before he made his account private so I can't actually post the tweets.

Given the timing, I wonder whether he was not agreeing with the numbers for the JJ contract extension.

The question is not whether Warren has clout, but how is he using it?  They may just have incommensurable ideas about managing the finances. In that case, top dog wins.

If the guy is a leak from inside Halas Hall then yeah, get his ass OUT of there.  And something "happened" in the previous regime when he was relieved of his contract negotiating duties when Pace was GM.  Sounds like an old "family friend" like Ted Phillips and new President/CEO Warren isn't going to keep the old "status quo" thing going.  It also looks like George is giving Warren the clout to clean things up and get this team on track.
