Its really strange though how the Bears for many years now do a good job at identifying and developing defensive talent but they're so bad at those things on the offensive side.
When is the last time we drafted and developed a stud QB, TE, or WR?
On offense they have been clueless. Some of the problem has been coaching. Some has been misses in both the draft and FA. The Nagy and Getsy offenses were just train wrecks. The schemes and playcalling were just not good. The talent on offense has been inadequate. Most years the offensive line has been a significant problem - on top of all the other problems.
It is so frustrating to watch the same problems not getting fixed.
I believe that getting Sweat started to show these guys more. Imagine if we had a legitimate 3tech and a better RDE?
Hoping we can draft Jer'Zhan "Johnny" Newton. He would be awesome here in this defense.
The Las Vegas oddsmakers are HEAVILY favoring Williams. I just checked it. But to quote Mick Jagger, “You can’t always get what you want, …but sometimes you get what you need.” Maybe Williams is what we need.
So it looks like Williams and Odunze unless Poles trades himself out of them both for a so-called “haul” of draft picks from Falcons or somebody. I hope he’s not that stupid.

That's a good point about not getting what you want but what you need. And I'm thinking we may end up with Caleb Williams. And that could be the best move. You never know, right? My hope is that whatever happens they get it right.

I don't see Pikes doing this as he just drafted Pickens and Dexter. He needs to go opposite DE IMO. Or obviously best available WR if he goes QB @1.
You are probably right. But holy cow that dude would make our DL one of (if not the) best DL's in the country. He just "fits" what Eberflus wants to do here on D, perfectly. But agree that we probably can't swing that and also get the WR we need if we draft a QB... but if Fields stays I want Newton after we draft MHJ. I am convinced that no other person in this entire draft would have the impact Newton would have on our particular defense.

And this is what makes the decision so hard. We could REALLY upgrade the team if we don't get a QB. But if Fields is not the guy, then it won't matter because it will be hard to take any really large steps.
