Kubiak and Waldron are from the McVay/Shanahan tree, right?
I can't imagine either of them having a scheme that suits Justin then. They're modified WCO guys, right?
Poles said he wants someone who can fit their scheme to whoever is on the roster. Waldron got the most out of a guy who was considered hot garbage. And the modified WCO is predicated on attacking deep...which last I checked was one of Fields strengths. However, like Poles indicated, Kyle Shanahan does a great job tailoring his offense to his players. He didn't ask Garrapolo throw deep, cause he sucks at that.
Whoever comes will be somebody Flus thinks he can work with, and he may have to accommodate some.

And here is where we will learn more about Eberflus, and most importantly we can find out if he can evolve and learn and improve. The good coaches can. Bad coaches can't. I would hope that Eberflus learns from the failures on offense, and trust a good offense mind, our new OC, and let him do whatever it takes to build a great offense here. Just don't get in the guys way - if the hire is solid, then trust the guy. Some of these names being mentioned for OC are guys who have the gears to get us where we need to go on offense. I just hope we can get it done and hire the best here. I feel mighty good right now because with a new OC and the upgrades on our O roster - the arrow is pointing up for 2024. Super Bowl ready by '25, right?
The OC needs to understand the running game as much as the passing game and how to fit them together. I want a guy who has actual experience as OC rather than a QB/passing game specialist.

David, I didn't know it until I looked it up, but he has been an offensive coordinator and also been a play caller on two NFL teams. He's young but would not be a 1st time offensive coordinator. And his pedigree is pretty good too. His dad has 3 Super Bowl rings and was in 4 other Super Bowls - and all 3 sons are in the NFL now, two as coaches and one as a scout for the Dallas Cowboys. He is only 36 years old yet has 9 years of coaching experience. And he has coached under some pretty solid Head Coaches, including Kyle Shanahan presently. My only point is that this isn't some QB coach like Getsy was who basically didn't have much to do "coaching" a veteran Aaron Rodgers. This guy actually does have some solid background experience.

Kubiak does have OC experience.
And I was thinking that as part of the Kubiak family (all 4 of them) they would have a healthy network of people to draw from - from their NFL journey spanning teams and years - when filling out that coaching roster on offense. He can work with Eberflus and Poles in this. But I would think he would draw MUCH better sub-coaches than Luke Getsy ever could. I could see building an offense where the coach pieces work seamlessly together better than Getsy's did. Guys who really fit the scheme.

I did read his bio. He has some experience as an NFL offensive coordinator, but not much. Waldron has 3 years with the Seahawks.
I read Getsy’s bio this morning. He was in over his head. Don’t hire another guy like that just through personal connections, or did a nice interview with Poles, or whatever.

I like Waldron too. A lot. But the Bears seem to have some excellent options at OC this year. The planets lined up well for us I think as far as needing an OC. I think Kubiak could be good too. Both Waldron and Kubiak are light-years beyond the Getsy hire.
EDIT: And whomever is hired is going to inherit a ton of talent. 2024 should be a playoff year and we might see that 2025 Super Bowl ready year happen too. Could be an awesome team.
