This one is behind a paywall, on the Chicago Tribune site. I can only post a tidbit here (it's Biggs 10-Thoughts article). But it gives us a glimpse of just how much this team loves Matt Eberflus and Justin Fields. Regarding Flus it reminded me that Eberflus wasn't hired to be a coordinator for the offense. He was hired to be the head coach. As much as I would have loved to have the Bears hire an offense HC two years ago, I have to admit that Eberflus (as a rookie HC) has grown steadily into the role - and yesterday he sure looked the part in the game, and after the game with the locker room showing just how much they respect and love this guy. The locker room under the Eberflus leadership is as high as I have ever seen in a Chicago Bears team. They believe. That's half the battle in team building on any level in any team sport. Mighty good to watch how Eberflus has molded this Bears team and brought it through a brutal teardown year with the roster decimated - and really in about 8 games this 1st season of the actual roster rebuild - he had the team rise from the ashes and begin to ascend. Think about this. He had 30 new young players on this seasons' team. He lost his DC early and had to take on DC duties as well as being an HC. Dude was steady as a rock through it all and the team just loves this guy and will go to war for him. 2024 is gonna be sweet to watch.
Watch Hoge and Jahns today. They have Josh Lucas as a guest again. He makes an argument for why Poles should trade Fields. I found it very interesting. I can imagine Poles agreeing with him.
Yeah, I could see this going either way. I just hope that whatever they do they get it right.

Yeah that was a really good podcast today. It also makes me think they're going to keep Getsy.
Unless Poles has already made up his mind about drafting a specific QB and has a specific OC in mind, then they may keep Getsy in case a better draft deal emerges (like someone giving up 3 1sts) and they stick with Fields.
Because that's the big question. Are they going to go all the way to the draft before trying to trade Fields? That way they can wait and see what offers come in for the 1st round pick. That would be the smartest thing value wise. But that also means they would be in limbo right up until that decision is made. At that point you're not going to be getting a new OC. So you're going to have already decided on an OC. And since it's a possibility you may be sticking with Fields they may just stick with Getsy.

Lucas was clear that, if they are keeping Fields, they will keep Getsy. They either both stay or both go.
There's no way Chi can bring Getsy back too?! There has to be some change and Luke is the best place to make it at. Either promote from within and make Janko the OC or bring in someone who has an experience and can cater to Fields' strengths and abilities. Getsy has shown for two seasons he's not that guy.

He believed that they would. It's not a certainty. He has no say in it. There is also no reason they couldn't move on from Fields and keep Getsy if they think he'll work for the QB they'll draft.

Another thing that struck me is that, when they asked him who is in the room to discuss the QB decision, there was no mention at all of Warren. WTF? JABF says he trusts Warren to honcho this thing, and they imply he’s not even in the room, as if he’s just going to defer to Poles & Co. I hope he’s not one of these kinds of executives who lurks in the background, and then parachutes in to torpedo whatever is proposed.

I think most people's idea of Warren is people just projecting their hopes on him. There is very little evidence at this point about him or what his actual say is in anything. They just want to feel like someone who knows what's going on is in charge (in other words not George). For all we know he told Poles to do whatever he wants while Warren concentrates on the stadium.

Warren should either get fully involved in this or stay out of it. I have personally seen during my working days what can happen when a person who has all the power zooms in at the last minute to overrule the people who have the hands-on knowledge and experience with the situation.

Warren's past gigs seem to give evidence of a workaholic, meticulous executive who is detail oriented. That doesn't mean he micromanages his subordinates. He doesn't seem like a Jerry Angelo type who has to prove to the world that he is always the smartest guy in the room. As fans we really have no clue as to what is actually happening behind the scenes, at the top executive level of this multi-billion dollar sports business - the Chicago Bears. We listen to some dude on a podcast and believe we "know" something definitive. We don't. We have no clue as to how this is ultimately going to unfold. We probably should just sit back and watch what actually happens over the next few months and enjoy the fact that Ryan Poles has positioned this franchise to complete one heck of a great year-2 of this rebuild. Just enjoy the ride here. It's going to be a good one I think.

To be fair...Lucas has no clue whether Warren is in the room or not...he doesn't work for the Bears anymore. Warren's first real day on the job wasn't until April 17th last year...so maybe he wasn't very involved in those QB conversations...but I would think that might be different this year. Who knows?
