Sounds crazy but as the article says, the Bears "have won five of seven and are among the hottest teams in the NFL as the regular season closes." The Bears are playing good football now. The article charts just how far the team has come since the beginning of the 2023 regular season.

I did notice that a number of articles are still saying Fields will be traded. So while Eberflus is thought of as a lock to come back next season, Justin Fields is considered a long shot to return. I wonder what his trade value is now?

Poles is being proven right now on so many decisions he has made. He has set us up for an amazing 2024 draft. I am blown away by his judgment on all of this. He hasn't been perfect, and we know that even the best GMs make some mistakes... but for a 36 year old guy to come in here as a rookie GM and accomplish what he has (he executed the tank year to perfection, and harvested an unreal set of assets) it is just mind-blowing. He is without question the best young ascending GM right now in the NFL. I had my doubts initially. But no more.

IMO the only reason Getsy survives (if he survives) is that Fields really is developing quickly right now and they will not want to change anything. I wonder if he won't be given "help" in the offseason. They might hire an offensive "consultant". Someone with offensive coaching experience. Maybe even a former OC. He will be there to assist in working on the scheme, game planning, etc. And if Getsy goes wonky again, we have his replacement on staff. And fully conversant with the scheme.

Agree completely on Getsy -- he needs to be replaced.

I give grudging credit to Flus for improving the defense and keeping the team together. I'm still not convinced that overshadows his record-setting blown 4th Q 2-score leads, his awful 0-4 start with 3 blowouts, and the mysterious disappearances of his two subordinates. If he goes into GB next weekend and beats the Packers, I'd be a lot more comfortable with keeping him. Lets see it. The Bears have a history of cfrapping the bed the moment you start to believe they have turned a corner. Seen it many times.

Regardless, if Harbaugh wants the job I'm kicking Flus to the curb in a NY minute.

Yeah my concern is with Flus is he's just good enough to be competent, but don't expect anything more than the odd play off win. Sort of high level mediocrity. I've never got the sense he can out coach anyone.

Also even if we get rid of Getsy I don't have much confidence that he is going to be able to bring in someone who is any better.

That's probably my biggest concern with him. Flus was a DC in Indianapolis before. How much influence and appeal does he hold for potential OC candidates? He doesn't have Shahahan coattails.
