Couple of things can be true here, take your pick....
(1) Jaylon wants too much (2) Bears offered too little (3) Poles isn't allowed to trade anyone (4) Flus wants zone CBs and not man CBs (5) Jaylon see the writing on the wall and wants out (6) Unless there is a bidding war, don't expect too much
Sadly, the only ones going to be happy here are those few posters who play the odds and always land on the negative side. This is a win/win for them. Not matter what happens, they can claim vindication.
I think JJ is worth between $14-17mil. If he wants more than $17 IMO he is over-valuing himself. I'd go to $17 knowing that by the end of the contract he would be underpaid again. I've used numbers before and can't remember where I settled before, but I think I'm close to what I previously posted. 4 years, AAV $16-17 for 4 years maybe first two season fully guaranteed at signing, 1/2 of the third at the start of second contract year, the other 1/2 at the start of 3rd contract year., no guarantee on the 4th.
Regardless, a few posters will cautiously take one side leaving themselves enough wiggle-room to actually be able to claim victory no matter what the result. Sigh. We'll hear about it in every thread for the next few seasons. Trolls.
Bears might be considering his injury history where he and his agent aren't also. Could be the trade request was requested and agreed upon to see if both sides can determine what other teams might see as a contract extension also.
Could also be that, and people including JJ will hate this, Poles and the Bears have no rush to get this done. They have the FT, the restricted tags and the offseason until FA begins to get this done. They have nothing but time on their hands.

You nailed it there, sir. And I don't give a shit what Flus wants or doesn't want--he won't be here in 2024.
JJ asking price is "way out of line per one source". I don't think that's out of the question. Likely wanting top 5-10 money, and b/c of his injury history he just isn't worth that price. He needs to prove he can stay healthy. FT might be the best option for him
Bears aren't going to give away JJ. 2 day 2 picks. btw, they aren't getting 2 day 2 picks, settle down. IF they do, celebrate b/c 2 day 2 picks are far greater then JJ considering his inability to stay healthy.

No way to know if that's true or not of course.
If he's asking for market re-setting money, yeah he's out of line. Roq could have made a case for that, except for lack of TOs; Johnson can't IMO.
Never know if these leaks are legit or if they're just the team try to leverage a player down in his ask.
But no way I'm trading him for less than a 1st. Can FT him or transition tag him later. No trade, no way.

If Sweat didn't get a 1st, a not top 10 CB w/injury concerns isn't netting you a first either. Reports are Bears want 2 day 2 picks. They aren't getting that, he's sticking around and likely getting FT'd.
