I'm not going to put labels on this heat-check. Instead, I'll do a simpler hot/cold meter.
Clearly though, 4 being the hottest means something like — he should be fired tomorrow! And 0 is something like — he's doing a great job, the burner is off.
To me, a 4 means he should be fired "now", or more realistically the end of the season.
Overall, I like the vision Poles has for the team. Unfortunately, like the players on the field, execution has been lacking.
I do like the talent he's brought in through the draft. They haven't all been hit, what GM hits on every player? But they all (generally) have a trait that coaches should be able to utilize and develop.
Therein lies the problem, coaching. Was Eberflus truly his pick or was it (at all) influenced by the owners/selection committee?
My preference for Poles fate should be completely determined by Warren. If Warren likes the plan Poles has set out and believes in the majority of Poles scouts, I imagine Warren would retain him for another coach.
I'm not discussing QB here, its a whole other can of worms I'm not opening right now. I like Poles drafts so far, but none of them have played long enough to judge.
If this thread was about Flutsy (that's Flus/Getsy), my answer would 4.
Since its about Poles, its a 1. He didn't draft Fields so he isn't gonna take the fall in yr 2 of a teardown/rebuild. If that fact upsets anyone here, I'd remind you the failure by George & Teddy to fire Pace & Nagy after the 2020 season led directly to this situation.
That's why you have a young QB in place who was drafted by a prior regime and therefore not tied to the current GM.
Having said the above, if Warren wants to sweep Poles out with Flutsy that's fine by me. I just don't think Poles is in trouble at this point.

I feel like we think similarly. I could shift my vote down to 2, but there should be some heat on his seat if the HC/results have been this bad.
I actually think I'd be foolish to move on from Poles, it just feels premature and reactive. The team needs some sort of consistency. It's not Poles fault he was hired before Ted Phillips retired/after Warren was hired.

I vote a 2. I'm willing to bet Poles wanted to draft his own QB, but he was hog-tied by the McCaskeys. I think Eberflus and Fields are gone after this year.
Did Poles pick Flus on his own? Im leaning towards no, so im willing (like somebody asks me) to give him another go. I like 70% of the moves he makes, and I believe that is decent for a rookie. I also dont have any faith in management to find a better guy, so yes I believe his seat is hot, hopefully not steamin.

I put 2. When he was hired the McCaskeys gave him a list of people to hire if I remember right. Eberflus wasn't his choice. I think the coaching staff is gone after this and hopefully the Lions OC becomes our next HC. I also believe Fields is gone after this year too, or at minimum another QB comes from rounds 2-3 (Nix). Of course that all depends on how Bagent plays as well.
I voted 1. I don't think he's responsible for hiring Flus and crew. His drafts have been okay to good. FAs were okay, but he's learned from them and admitted to his mistakes. Warren's decision on him will depend more on Pole's ability to identify problems, his plans to address those problems and his ability to execute those plans, both short-term and long-term. He hasn't been here long enough to really have had much of an effect on the overall plan. He has wiped the slate on old players with bad contracts. That was a huge first step. We can only wait and see what his next steps are and how they develop.
I voted a 4. I'm not saying fire the guy, but Warren needs to sit this guy down and tell him that his job is on the line if he can't build a modern NFL offense here. It begins with an offense head coach and then bringing in the rock-solid talent that will enable a young QB to come to Chicago and succeed. No more of these "hope and a prayer" guys, but rather REAL talent on offense - that is coaching AND players. The Bears talk a good story when it comes to offense... and then lose focus with hiring a D coach and they put resources into a defense that could have gone to support a viable offense. How did we NOT bring in a center on that OL? How does that even happen that we trot a Patrick out as our C, or Whitehair who is clearly a bad player now? D.J. Moore was a nice acquisition for sure. Where is the talent around him though? Poles invested resources in defense instead of going all-in on offense (coaches and players).
Warren needs to hold Poles' feet to the fire until he is all-in on offense. I hope Pole's seat is white-hot. Talk is cheap, let's see if Poles does anything here to finally fix the O woes here in Chicago.
