The NFL curiously has slammed the door on teams giving equity to players or employees, before anyone ever actually tried to do it. Since posting an item on the issue earlier tonight, we’ve caught wind of two players who were hoping to score a slice of ownership.
Per multiple sources, the representatives of USC quarterback Caleb Williams had been making it known to prospective agents that Williams wants partial ownership of the team that selects him in 2024, if he declares for the draft.

I can see this being a thing for players such as Brady who has been incredible for a team for so long but an undrafted? It's a big no for me dawg!
This could be something that is included in a third contract drawing but the player really has to earn his/her place.
On the flipside I can see why players would be thinking of some kind of incentive type of markers like a share. The players do give their everything on their respective playing arenas and are deserving of some kind of lifetime type reward. But they also chose this as their job so I think it has to be a very special type incentive, rare actually.

Oh f this guy. There are legit concerns about him anyways, great ol in front of him, all day to throw.
But this lvl of arrogance is not what you want.
Yeah, sounds like yet another head-case. Over the years we've heard of these "can't miss" players, and yet so many of them have busted - or at least disappointed. Hard pass on this guy.
The League has created a dysfunctional environment by re-writing the rules to favor the passing game to the point that the QB position is coveted to the point of craziness. It's not good for football. The officiating needs adjusted more in favor of a balance between D and O. And you can't have 1 position so far out of whack that guys are wanting to own part of the teams - in addition to the obscene contracts they are getting now... while other positions, like the RB position, are so devalued. It's all about the QB and passing game. It is dysfunctional and needs correction.
One last point. It makes you hope all the more that Fields can somehow prove to be the guy for us moving forward. He seems like a decent level-headed (normal) guy. And a good guy at that. But of course he needs to prove he can get it done here. He has 12 more games to do that.

What has really put this over the edge in terms of dysfunctionality are the ridiculous media contracts the NFL has secured. But I totally agree that we should go back to good old fashioned smash mouth football, a great balance between which would probably never happen.

ESPN 1000 was talking about it; went back 10 years and the high number of qb's on rookie deals that made the SB is insane; and very few make it back afterwards. They were talking in relation to Dak and that contract he got; but also in general, the number of qb's that get paid hefty deals and never live up to them via playoff success. Something I've talked about for quite awhile. You are now better off ricking a new rookie then an average, to above average qb, until you stumble onto a Brady, Mahomes, Rogers type. The minute you pay a qb a 30+ mil contract b/c "thats what franchise qb's get" and not b/c thats what he's worth via his playoff performances the team is doomed to fail.
A franchise qb isn't worth the same as a playoff/sb winning qb, never will be.
