Poles "owns" the Claypool mistake. I do like that he did so

On the one hand, you have a mistake not drafting Pickens in the 2nd, or some other WR, which forced you to over pay for a WR that had issues w/work ethic. On the other hand you have a HC and GM willing to accept this mistake and getting the player off the team asap as he was killing the team on and off the field.

Gave up the 32nd for a handful of games for a future swap of a 6th and 7th. Let Miami be his problem. But I think, much like Carter, Miami might have the players and staff in place to keep his ego in check, and have him over a fire as if he doesn't work to learn the playbook and do things the right way, and keep that mouth/attitude in check, his career is likely over.

I do get the risk, it was just a very expensive one that should have told Poles to not do it. But again I go all the way back to Marshal Faulk owning his problems in Indy after he got traded and changing to save his career. That's not a one off, just the only one I remember actually hearing a player admit it. Some guys need to be rejected and fail to grow up and learn to be a professional, but most won't. CC was worth a late 2nd at best, but if he had been humble enough to understand why he was sent packing in Pitt he could have had a long successful career in Chicago. Instead he was unmoved and just expected to again have success w/out effort.

I put trades (for picks) in the same categories as draft picks.
33rd pick for 6th round sounds bad, and it is.
But, for example, 7th overall pick for nada, sounds even badder. 😁

You never know what that pick can turn out to be.
