Okay, I just updated the banner... LOL, actually I've tried several and hope THIS one is what you folks like. If not then just let me know and I'll "get back to the drawing board" and try again
Maybe a good longer-term plan is to completely upgrade the banner when we have a new "face of the franchise" in the next draft. That SHOULD be the quarterback... but we have to see who that is.
That 2nd photo of the Butkus slideshow is a classic. He's looking down on the Packers QB who looks dead. The official is looking back at Butkus like "You killed him!" I'm wondering if that is Bart Starr? I can't tell.
According to the caption on the hi-res image it's Detroit Lions' wide receiver Chuck Hughes:
Dick Butkus Watches as Chuck Hughes Lies on Field(Original Caption) Detroit Lions' wide receiver Chuck Hughes lies on the field at Tiger Stadium, October 24, as the Chicago Bears' Dick Butkus (#51) and two officials await assistance in the closing minutes of the Lions-Bears game. Hughes died within the hour at Ford Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

Thanks for letting me know. I did remove that pic. I had no idea the player actually died.
EDIT: I did go back and read up on that player. I didn't even have the right team. I thought it was a Packers player but you're right it was a Detroit WR. Pretty sad if you look it up. There was a YouTube video of Butkus talking about the death this past year. I think the player was only 28 years old. I saw a video (another one) where Butkus did hit the guy in a brutal hit (clean hit at that time and era) but he looked okay. The next play I guess he just collapsed on the field. They tried to give him CPR on the field in that clip but it sounds like he died... he was taken to the hospital though and pronounced dead there. Butkus went to the funeral. Maybe the guy had a bad heart issue? I don't know.
There is honestly no current player on the Bears roster I would consider the face of the franchise. Justin had it last year but its over. DJ Moore is too new and isn't really a top 5 WR. I can't really say next year we will have one either since I don't consider rookies a face of the franchise. Maybe after year 2 or they're breaking records year one.

That's a great point. I'm fine putting up a pick of the new QB, just so folks have something positive to see there. This has been a killer pair of debbie-downer years... we're due for anything positive. LOL, if we'd get Marvin Harrison Jr too.... well I'll put 'em BOTH up there :-)

This is not meant like a joke, cos there is nothing funny about it, for all of them involved, but you sure were right when you said that the official is looking back at Butkus like "You killed him!". Damn.
