Andy Reid has been the HC at KC for just over 10 years. In those 10 years (remember that Mahomes has only been the starter for 5), KC has had the best overall record in the NFL. I'm sure it's luck that got them Mahomes. They took Mahomes as the #10 pick in the 2017 draft. There were two QBs taken before KC took Mahomes. So, they saw something in Mahomes that none of the other teams did.
Maybe the only luck they had was that Ryan Pace had no idea as to what he was doing. Everything else was due to intelligence, hard work, hiring the right people, etc.
Or they knew that Alex Smith is at best a bridge QB who can't win you big games even when surrounding yourself with super star talent. Mahomes had the talent to get KC where they're at today. Remember before Mahomes, KC never won a playoff game with Reid. Dude was known for being a choke artist.
Then you are agreeing with me that luck really had nothing to do with it. Maybe luck that Pace didn't pick Mahomes but KC traded up to get Mahomes. So, they had identified Mahomes as their QB before the draft.
I wouldn't exactly call it bad news considering Jones sucks and has no place being a starting LT in the NFL.
Oh, come on man. He had some penalties in these opening games, but that’s not a big worry long-term. He played well last year, and was excellent in pass protection against the Packers in game 1. He made the all-rookie team in2022. He worked hard in the weight room this off-season and put on a solid 10 pounds to help with bull rushers. I was really looking forward to progress on that issue this year. He doesn’t suck, but this injury sure does.
So spend 20-30 million for a bridge QB? Not really the smartest move if that was a GM. I get your point but even players like Matt Stafford were given up for 2 1st round picks. So paying premium for an average at best QB imo isn't worth it.
Ya, spend 20-30 mil for 2-3 years, likely going to have a vet backup on your squad for 12-20 mil anyways if you have a rookie. Spend 8-10 more and get the issue dealt with correctly. Know that the O is working, then draft a qb that fits what that O needs.
Really not the smartest? how's drafting a bust at qb a smart move? Which is going to cost you more in job security? Who said trade?
Poles didn't draft Fields. That's Pace. Again like I said in the past. Pace should of never been able to draft a QB.
You say who said trade? What good QB is out there in the market? Alex Smith was traded for. 49ers traded him away.

Sounds a lot like hard work and skill to me!
Yes but they also traded for Smith back in the day as well and thought he was their QB. No matter what. You're going to give up some type of draft capital for a QB.

doesn't matter who drafted him. it's not the player, its the team and it's ability to build a team that can support the a young qb. QB is the hardest position in sports to play, and you want to bring him to a team w/a garbage O, a questionable at best OL, and 1 WR and a bunch of scrubs to throw to. Don't be surprised when that qb, no matter where he's drafted, no matter how pro ready they are, they'll fail.

The injury sure does suck. These guys work harder than we can imagine. I was looking forward to watching him take the next step up after his rookie season. Everything I read about his off season was about how hard he was working. Now this. Last season he was the only Bear player to play every single snap. He was like an iron man. But now this. I feel bad for him and for the team losing him.
