Your theory was you take def first, it shouldn't matter.
Fact is bad GM's(last I checked you weren't a fan of Pace) apparently pick good O over bad.
Guess Indy should have taken a Def player instead of Manning Guess GB should have taken a def player instead of Rogers(shit they had Farve remember).
You take the BPA, or at least BPA based on need. You do not draft DE/OLB in the first every time regardless of situation, it's a poor theory at it's base.
Come on Ric you know I said there are exceptions to the rule.
QBs being one of them.
QBs and Tackles are hard to come by later in the round unlike RBs, Guards, TEs, WRs, and centers.
OLB/DE are a very important piece for a defense. That's pass rush.
Look at the Patriots.
6 Super Bowls Appearances
10 AFC Conference Appearances
13 Division champs
What they do works.
Patriots are the exception to the rule, not the example. We've gone over this. They got their QB in the 6th round, which is the exception to the rule.
Wonder what's up with Bullard. He was healthy but held out. Performance related? Personal troubles?
I believe Fox was quoted as saying he didn't play do to "ability." So apparently he just isn't getting the job done performance-wise.
This was just brought up on 670. Ya right now the kid just isn't getting it done. Really want the Bears to get a QB and 5 tech in the early part of this draft more then anything else.
Not a fan of the pick back then, but hey I am glad to be wrong so far. All though I think he needs to get better vs the run, I think he oftens takes himself out of the game. And he needs to put more consistent pressure on the QB. Seems to be when he finally gets to the QB via the passrush he gets the sack, but more often than not he is not putting enough pressure on the QB.
I was a big fan of Vic Beasley over White and seeing how he plays I am still upset. But getting Floyd ease the pain a bit.
All of us at one time or another have had to eat some crow. If a player does better than what we predict, that's a "good thing" not a bad thing. I respect posters when they just admit they were wrong, rather than try to argue to rationalize.
I didn't like the pick at all. It is starting to look more and more like I was wrong (assuming he can stay healthy, add a little weight, and keep developing).
I'm happy to admit to being wrong and glad for it. Still early but we may have a future pass rush stud on the roster.
remember when people were saying that Bullard was better than Floyd because he had more sacks?

I loved the Bullard pick and thought he was a steal. And would be pushing for starting role by now. Instead he's a healthy scratch. Shows what I know LOL

Hes been a disappointment so far
Yeah, Bullard was one of the guys I was excited about. And I'll top you by also saying that I thought Whitehair was an absolute mistake.
