Your theory was you take def first, it shouldn't matter.
Fact is bad GM's(last I checked you weren't a fan of Pace) apparently pick good O over bad.
Guess Indy should have taken a Def player instead of Manning Guess GB should have taken a def player instead of Rogers(shit they had Farve remember).
You take the BPA, or at least BPA based on need. You do not draft DE/OLB in the first every time regardless of situation, it's a poor theory at it's base.

Come on Ric you know I said there are exceptions to the rule.
QBs being one of them.
QBs and Tackles are hard to come by later in the round unlike RBs, Guards, TEs, WRs, and centers.
OLB/DE are a very important piece for a defense. That's pass rush.
Things are looking good for the rookie but the NFL is a cold hearted mistress and it has the ability to cut short / cut off / or turn the fates of any player. I'm gonna wait a few years before I rank him with the beasts on that list. Still, he's looking better and better each week and that's a damn good sign.
Yes he is.. I can't wait for next year..
I like the kid. At this point, I agree that you definitely can not say he is a stud or will be in the Hall of fame. Not enough time yet, but when you have more sacks than other rookies, you are on your way. One thing I am very comfortable saying now is that he is not a bust. At the beginning of the year, I still was not calling him a bust (although to be honest, I really felt there was a good chance he was going to be) because again, he needed more time. But at this point in time (JMO), while the beast or stud label still does not fit him, I don't see how anyone could legitimately call him a bust. He has far exceeded what I thought he was going to accomplish based on how he started. And he has not started all the games. I'd be happy to be wrong on another half a dozen young Bears like I was with him.
At the time of the draft, Floyd was the consensus Bears pick. He was a good pick then and he's proven to be a good player.
At the time of the draft, White was the consensus Bears pick. He was a good pick. He's been fragile as all hell but I will never fault Pace for making that selection and I won't ever play the shoulda woulda game with it. Pace has drafted well since coming to Chicago.
And it is not too late for White to end up being a big contributor to the team. It's a shame he has had the injuries, but he could still have a solid career for us. If he had to have these bad injury years I'm hoping he got them out of the way in years we were not going anywhere anyway - and can be a part of a playoff caliber Bears team soon.
Yea maybe next year we can get 5 games out of White before he goes on IR

Small steps BiH, Lets see...16 games, divided by 5, carry the 9...borrow from the 3, taking the 2nd derivative and the square of the hypotenuse...if White plays evert 3 games (1 on two off) he'll get to 5 without risking injury. Just make him a healthy scratch for the two games.

I actually feel bad for the guy. Everything I have read about him says that he has a tremendous attitude and work ethic. The guy is WAY rawer than I ever expected though and he needs field time. It will be season three and he still won't be much more than a rookie. Plus, they are running out of places to put new rods in his body.

I wasn't either. He had the measurable and the promise, but hasn't been able to get it together. This off season he really needs to hook up with Berkley or Shaw or some QB and find a CB who will cover him and just run simulated snaps to get the routes down. I don't even know if thats possible with out the other guys on the field.
