All, just like the draft thread this could be a good sticky candidate. This thread is not about which Free Agents to pursue as there will be quite a few created between now and next spring. This is really more about what the 2017 CAP might look like and who are possible or likely CAP cut casualties. For this first post I see 3 as probables for obvious reasons of which injuries and production play the biggest roles in me mentioning them. I see them as traditional Pre June 1 hits.
1. Jay Cutler - 14M off the books 2. Lamarr Houston - 5M off the books 3. Eddie Royal - 5M off the books
With a projected CAP of 166M the Bears have 48M in space before these 3 cuts. Therefore the extra 24M gives them a whopping 72M to play with. Eventhough I started the koolaid Cousins thread I don't the Bears going after him but more importantly he won't likely make it to FA. What I do see is the possibility for the Bears to make 2 major splash signings at least at CB and possibly the Oline if Massie slides even more during the last 6 games. Maybe BIH, JABF, Soul, Alex, or Ric might want to sticky this. Your call. Enjoy and let's see what happens. Source is overthecap.com.

Dont forget, we can cut Massie too
I did mention Massie Alex but want to see how he does over the next 5 games. He did play slghtly better this past week.

ok, but this is cap thread, also Violent is an option too if he cant stay on field
Yeah in the first post season draft thread I created a while back I mentioned both Houston and Violent as potential CAP hits but that thread is long since buried. I may resurrect it after the season ends for us. Lol
Signing big is not mutually exclusive with signing smart. Signing smart should be the criteria. If that involves big signings, then that's fine. We need impact players. Sometimes a big name delivers and sometimes not. Conversely, a "second tier" guy will deliver first tier results. It's all about scouting (being smart) in who you get. We should not shy away from big signings, nor should we moves towards them unless it would be the right move.
