Not really. He's the good all around QB that played in lots of big games in college. Not sure why it never translated, but I think he has all the Tools to succeed.
He was projected as a 1st rounder during his junior season . He probably should have come out then because the hype surrounding him was at it's peak . The team wasn't as good his senior year , plus he had a dinged up shoulder and that lowered his draft stock so he went in the 4th .
The amount of attention you get as a pro directly correlates to the plans they have for you . IF he had come out after his junior year he would likely have been a 1st rounder , and we all know that 1st rd QB's get alot more prep-work than a 3rd stringer . IF you have the tools , then the amount of " attention " ( prep ) you get is at it's highest and that will have a direct influence on how well you'll play ( if ur actually good enough ) .
There was a time when alot of people thought he'd be good enough . The situation he finds himself in is his best chance to show if he's capable . He's getting the " prep " he always needed ... now it's up to him to run with it .
I'm really hoping he does well. Even if he's only a solid backup, that's going to be great. Nothing wrong with finding a solid YOUNG backup for QB.
I wonder sometimes how many guys would have been good pros if they had been given the right chance , or maybe just a liiiitle more patience - probably more than just a few ... but , in the pros , you gotta adapt quickly or you become yesterdays news .
he doesn't have a really good arm though. i don't like the 49ers, so i am ready for lights out Matt.
Why do people keep saying this? Watch some of his USC film he can chuck it downfield. Does he have the strongest arm in he NFL? No. Is he weak or "noodle armed"? No. Hell the pass last Sunday to Deonte Thompson (the one where they ended up getting a PI call) was right on the money and that pass was over 50 yards in the air.

When it Comes to QBs, it's the same with Goalies in hockey. There will be talented guys that just Need the right Chance. Hope Barkley is one of those guys and we can use a Top3 pick on Garrett, Allen or Fournette.

OK I am sold for the moment. Let's see what happens in the next 5 games.
Barkley arm strength: i guess i say it because he cannot make the same throws jay can when they are both throwing off their back foot BUT they BOTH try to make those throws.
