Yep, it takes one bad hit or slide and boom, the season can be over. That shoulder happens on his throwing arm, in 2-3 years when the team is good, then what?
And teams are already shutting it down when it matters. Make Fields sit there and be a qb, and he cannot hit open wr's in those instances. It appears Fields is looking less for his WR's and routes and more for an opening to gain 4-5 yards w/his legs in this last game in that last drive.
This O isn't going to work longterm unless the Bears do what Balt did, and 100% commit to building it; and even then, what has Balt done in the playoffs when it matters?
The worst thing that this team, GM, HC can do is use these last few weeks a proof they need to center on the Def.
If Poles doesn’t pour a significant amount of resource into the defensive
front-7, we are going to continue scoring 30 ppg next year and still get beat at the end of 4th quarter because we can’t get a defensive stop when most needed.
Finally, “getting the offense fixed fixed first” means drafting WR1 in first round. That’s where I worry Poles will disappoint both of us.
if fields is always hurt b/c he has to run or get destroyed it won't matter either. The NFL is a O league, you have to score to win to get into the playoffs before def matters.
