You can blame Ryan Pace for that. He's 100% responsible.
Kevin White was a massive bust. Trubisky the same. And 2 other FRPs were lost in the Mack trade when Pace thought Trubisky was "the guy". The only other FRPs Pace had went for Floyd and Roquan.
Poles didn't have a FRP this draft either cuz it was spent to move up for Fields.
Where did I blame anyone?
Didn't say you did. Pointing out why we are in this predicament. Poles is the one trying to clean up the mess.
I remember reading a Biggs fanmail article a few years ago--maybe 2019 or so when Trubisky was really struggling and things were starting to unravel. Biggs was asked what he thought and said something along the lines of "when you spend 5 picks to draft a QB at #2 and he doesn't work out, it's likely to have painful consequences for years to come".

Yep
Don't care why. I care about how we are going to end up doing the same thing we've done time and again b/c the team refuses to put resources into the def rather then the O and then blame the HC, the GM and the QB, as if EVERYONE of them all just happened to believe the exact same thing.
This has to be coming from above, b/c I refuse to believe that every GM the Bears have ever had, every coach the Bears have ever had all believed that they didn't have to put resources into the OL and WR.

I think you reversed O and D in the 1st paragraph but I know what you meant.
I'm giving Poles the benefit of the doubt this year as I know he took over a total dumpster fire situation and had little capital to work with.
2023 is another story. He will need to make some bold, aggressive moves then and will have the resources to do it.
No question the Bears need a major talent infusion at WR. We are probably talking a 1st round draft pick AND a significant FA signing. BOTH.
If Kmet doesn't get his head out of his ass, they may need to sign a TE as well.
As far as the OL goes, and this is ridiculously preliminary of course, the weakest link so far to me is Borom at RT. Braxton Jones has actually been pretty good so far. If he continues to improve, wow that's a huge win to get a starting LT out of the 5th round. Jenkins looks promising as a mauling RG. Mustipher is just a placeholder and will be benched soon for Patrick. Whitehair is solid. We may be looking at drafting an RT and signing a LG or vice versa but those are both very doable scenarios.
BTW, the D ain't great either I'm afraid. We will certainly need a 3-tech DT and probably a DE/Edge too as Quinn will be gone.
