I can't really blame Fields. He has no one to throw too.
Mooney isn't and never will be a true #1 WR. So many were blinded by him last year when he had a #1 WR demanding #1 attention.
Kole is just a bust...
I wouldn't go as far as saying "bust" but both have been on a milk carton so far. Mooney is their only decent WR so its easy for opposing defenses to take him away. Kmet has mostly been used a blocker so far but yeah that excuse a goose egg either.
I would say neither of them are elite talents, Kmet especially, and the Bears as a whole lack talent especially on the offensive side.
Despite all the above, Fields needs to play better. A rating in the 40s isn't gonna cut it no matter what.

The problem with watching games on TV vs. at the stadium is that you can’t see the whole field. I just ran across an interesting stat. On plays where there is NO PRESSURE, Fields holds the ball 2.6 seconds (third worst in NFL). Why? I don’t know. It may mostly because he has crap receivers and he is waiting for somebody to get open. That problem is correctable by getting him better receivers in 2023. On the other hand, it may be a brain problem in that he’s not going through progressions fast enough to find the open receivers. That is the Trubisky fatal brain problem, and it is NOT correctable by coaching or adding receivers. Whatever the problem is, the WRs have caught only 7 passes in two games. Fields has worst QB rating in the league (39). I wish I could sit in the stadium and see the whole field to see whether he’s not seeing open receivers. I HOPE that’s not the problem.

Someone with all-22 needs to watch each passing play and see how Mooney is covered and the routes he is running. Is Fields missing him? Is he not open? Same with Kmet. Because Griffiths had that one play that was supposed to be Kmets bread and butter seam route. Fields saw him....
Where are the roll outs with Kmet rolling with Fields?
and, sorry for the all caps:
STOP THROWING WR SCREENS TO MOONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either the "game will slow down for him" or not. Just another way of saying the same thing I guess. No question Bears receivers aren't good as a group but it looks to me that Fields is still learning the scheme and therefore is slow in getting through his progressions. He seems tentative and, adding to that appearance, he is a QB who tends to look for the "big play" (which isn't really a major feature of this scheme which relies more on YAC). It all adds up to him holding the ball too long and looking indecisive.
Next two games are against far weaker opponents than he's played so far and, not gonna lie, I'll be getting very worried if he doesn't show substantially better than he has so far. Not expecting miracles, just 2 solid games passing. And Getsy needs to let him throw 20-25 times/game. I know we a run-centric team but hard for any QB to get in a rhythm only throwing 10-12 passes with half being screens and dumpoffs.
Speaking of Mitch, was listening to NFL Radio this am and they were interviewing a Pittsburgh sportswriter about the Steelers offensive woes. He said there is "tension" in the locker room and anger in the fanbase over both Mitch and the lack of a running game. Steelers have scored only 2 offensive TDs so far and Najee Harris is averaging less than 3 yards/carry. Said Trubisky may have only 2 more, maybe 4 at most, games of leash left unless he picks it up big time or they're gonna bench him and go with their rookie, Pickett. Bottom line is the Trubisky is the same player we saw here in 2019-2020 and he's never gonna be a starting caliber QB.
I hope Getsy loosens the shackles on Fields a bit going forward cuz I wanna know one way or another if Fields looks like the guy going forward. I wanna see that THIS YEAR.

Right. But if the running game is working and Bears have the lead on the scoreboard, Getsy will probably be satisfied to play it conservative to win the game. I have another thought about this game, but I’m not posting it.

Typical game has roughly 60 offensive snaps. Obviously less if you're an inept offense like the Bears who has a lot of 3 & outs. But ~ 55-60 is typical.
25 pass attempts in that typical situation is still very "run heavy", especially considering that a few of those 25 pass attempts will results in QB runs or sacks. I'd like to see Fields get 25 dropbacks on Sunday.

So, do we need to see 12-14 completed passes (for a change) with no turnovers to call this an acceptable outing for Fields? I’ll accept that if he is throwing downfield to WRs and not just 80% dump offs/screens.

He need to be completing 60% minimum and have a 2:1 TD:INT ratio. 200 yards at least
11/21, 140 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT is a shit performance and he's averaging less than 100 yards/game thus far on about 55% completion rate IIRC.

And by the end of the season he needs to be trending all of those numbers better.
Towards this:
20/30 (66%) 250 yards, 3:1 TD:INT, I'll add generating at least 1 running TD every two games.
