Ya, it's been a rough season to say the least. But I thought we could talk about something positive and give our top-5 young players who most excite us for the future. Who are 5 guys you see as foundation pieces for building the team upon beginning next season? I'm talking about guys who have only been around a few years - or even rookies.
There are different ways to look at this. If I am listing the 5 really young players who excite me the most, then my top-3 are linemen. Whitehair is going to be a huge help to this team for many years to come. Goldman on the DL too. Great foundation pieces to the rebuilding effort. My next pick, Grasu, has proven nothing yet. But my gut feeling is that he will be every bit as good as Whitehair - and the team will be starting BOTH of these players next year. He will be too good to be a backup, so they will find a way to start BOTH him AND Whitehair.
Floyd should take a huge step next year. It should be a great year for him, after this year.
I just noticed that 3 of my 5 picks are players from this year's draft. Whitehair, Floyd & Howard. That's a pretty good draft right there alone. Goldman and Grasu were only drafted last year. So Pace has added some solid talent for the future in these first 2 drafts, IMHO. There have been other good draft picks, but these 5 make me hopeful for next year's season.
