1 is a backup w/as many rec's as the starter has targets. Whoever wrote that is trying to pass a story w/out looking at those pesky stats you like to talk about
Besides you like to always point out the media are ignorant hacks
Ric, break it down. There's a 79 yard difference and 1 TD over 9 games and Marty has Tom Brady throwing to him not Brian Hoyer or Jay Cutler. That's one 9 yard catch per game and you're trying to tell me that we've taken a major hit offensively because we traded Marty B and he's on the verge of being an All Pro? Not even brother.
It makes no difference how Marty is used there especially since they use two TEs as often as we use three WRs. In their offense both TEs are starters. So he's not a backup. He's a co-starter. The only real issue here is would he have done any better than Miller playing here and when he was he didn't which is why he got traded and Miller was signed.
The only media guys I call ignorant hacks generally are ignorant hacks and actually Bryan Perez isn't one of them. I quote his stuff pretty often here even when I don't always agree with his point of view. You're pretty familiar with me not agreeing with certain members points of view by now aren't you? LOLOL
So it doesn't matter that Miller has been targetted 62 times to 47 targets? A difference of 15 targets for 2 guys that get between 5 and 7 a game? That's a difference of 2 to 3 games; and Bennett is the loser in those chances. Yes it's Brady throwing him the ball and not Hoyer and Cutler, but last year Marty was the problem, not Cutler; now all of a sudden the QB is the problem w/Miller? Sorry if you bought into all that BS last year you need to lie in it now.

Targets aren't catches Ric. Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Miller hasn't dropped a single catchable ball so far and you can't hold him responsible for his QBs inaccuracy and overall it's less than 2 targets per game. When they get Miller the ball he catches it and despite a much lower average yards per catch his production doesn't trail Marty's by all that much. Miller doesn't call the plays and the entire offense is much worse this year than last so I would expect that would lower his stats somewhat too. It would have lowered Marty's as well if he was still here.
Marty WAS a problem last year. I can't think of why you'd even dispute that fact because we all know it's true. It was discussed at length from the winter of 2015 when the contract issue first came up, prior to the draft, and all through the season. He played with half a heart all season long. They not only left him off the active roster for the GB game but eventually they shelved him on the IR because of his attitude, he was nursing an injury, and his lack of production.
Basically Miller beat him out of his starting role in open competition. Cutler had one of the best years of his career so Marty could have been a part of that but because he was in a contract dispute, playing lazy, and not being used the way HE thought he should be used he's the one who pouted this time Ric, not Cutler. Marty was doing every damn thing he could do to get himself traded and they finally accommodated him didn't they. I don't see how you could dispute any of that happening.
Anyway, for me the bottom line is I'm far happier with Miller who I believe is a better fit and actually a more efficient and sure handed receiver. Marty may have an advantage as an in line blocker but with 25-30lbs more to work with I think that's to be expected. You can prefer Marty if you like but his still being with the Bears would not have made one iota's worth of difference in this 2016 offense. The issues are much deeper than that.
