The Bulls? They lost my attention when MJ retired. The Blackhawks? Multiple rungs higher on my list than the Bulls but still way too early. I start to follow them around the start of the new year when the Bears are hibernating.
So, only winning teams have your attention? Very cool
Nah, I've been watching or listening to the Cubs since the early 80's even in August when they were 30 games out. I became a Bears fan when Ditka came on and they pretty much owned the NFC North for a decade so I started out a bit spoiled I guess. Since then though maybe blame should fall on the Cubs for my desire to watch every single Bears game through the worst of seasons?
I'm just not a big NBA fan and it's not basketball because I LOVE March Madness. I just think the NBA is geared or marketed to, well, not me. Going to a NBA game is not a fun experience to me. The level at which they pump really awful music through the arenas, the silly side attractions, people in gorilla outfits that rappel from the rafters to shoot balled up tshirts into the crowd - hey if that's your thing then more power to you! It's just not mine. Another note on the NBA, I am also suspicious of the integrity of the NBA game. I am one of those that doesn't believe in the lone gunman theory when it comes to Donaghy.
It could be worse gang. Imagine if you will being stuck in Rod Serlings "Twilight Zone" where the TV has only one channel and all it plays are reruns of "Green Acres" and "Petticoat Junction".
You just game me flashbacks to when I had to stay home sick from grade school and the only thing to do would be to lay there and watch soap operas or old reruns of Green Acres. I feel waves of nausea!
Yeah, I'd start watching some Hawks games if you havent gotten into them already.
You have a brimming dynasty team and some of the best players in the game on your team.
Agreed. Although I feel bad for those who would be starting now! Going to see the Blackhawks and Coyotes in the 90's changed my whole perspective on the sport. I think technology has helped this sport more than any other. HD TV has helped become a watchable sport from your couch. When I was a kid, my uncles (who all played hockey) would be watching the Blackhawks on grainy old TV sets. Maybe my memory is embellishing a bit but I swear they were watching on B&W TVs with rabbit ears and I just didn't get their fascination.

I actually liked Green Acres. Arnold the pig used to crack me up...

I was starting to wonder if I was the only one that liked Green Acres. I thought it was funny.
+1 The Beverly Hillbillies were good too. My favorite episode was when Jethro read in a comic book that there were beautiful women living on the moon. He made a homemade "rocket" back by the "cement pond" and powered it with Granny's moonshine. When asked if he "really" believed there were these beautiful women living on the moon, he got riled up and said, "would they print it in a comic book if it weren't true?" He then hopped on that homemade rocket and fired it off and landed in the Pacific Ocean. When they opened up his rocket to save him, he pops out and says "Where's the moon maidens"... it cracks me up still to think of that show :-)
Probably one reason I liked it was because my own family wasn't much more refined than those hillbillies. We didn't even have indoor plumbing when I was young. Still had an outdoor toilet. We grew a lot of our own food on a small acreage. We raised chickens and butchered a couple of pigs each year for meat. Mom canned a large part of our food. My grandpa was a coal miner who began working in the Illinois coal mines after the 4th grade (no child labor laws in those days... you were expected to begin work in the mines at an early age). We were a poor family, and yes, a bit backwards like those hillbillies - but it was a good life and we were happy.
