Name the games in bear weather were the bears were clearly the better team bc of the weather? Jahns had one example that came to mind in recent memory, 2018 Rams were Goff looked like he had never been in the cold. I remember the Saints, southern and dome team coming in and whooping our asses in bear weather. It just doesn't matter anymore, it hasn't for a long while.
Warm blooded teams are not used to the cold weather of Chicago. That 2018 game was a magically game. Just like games in the Lovie Smith era where this team had talent. From games where Justin Tucker misses the game winning FG do to the Chicago winds to games like the Fog Bowl. Notice how the NFL put the Bears in the Rams stadium ever since 2018?
You think the Packers would give up their home field advantage which is one of the best in the NFL to put a dome over their head?
Build a team and condition them to our climate. Again like I said, stats don't lie. Outdoor teams play better than indoor teams.
There are no warm blooded teams anymore. There is 1 example of it working.
About the old school football stuff, should we bring back leather helmets, that old-time football that was big as a pumpkin and not much use passing - and while we're at it... maybe take away the forward pass too while we're at it? The ole "3 yards & a cloud of dust" thing again?
Times change. The game of football has changed. That's just the way it is in life. Stuff happens, and things change. The world won't end if the Bears (finally) have a state-of-the-art stadium with a retractable roof. JMO.

I guess the South and the west coast doesn't exist anymore.
Ask yourself this, would the Packers be crazy to give up their home field advantage to put a dome on their head? They have one of the best home field record in the NFL.

So would the Packers be better in a State of the art stadium? They have one of the best home field records in the NFL. Would they really give up that COLD advantage for a Super Bowl or Wrestlemaina?
Football is an outdoor sport. Always has been. As for bringing back old school football. Some of it needs to come back. The NFL today is about rather you have a HOF QB or not. If you have one you're competitive for 10-15 years. If you don't, even with an elite defense and good running game. You got a 1-3 year window.
I hate to rain negativity on this thread but…. 1) The McCaskey’s will not build a stadium without a commitment to host a Super Bowl. 2) If sold, the new owners will want to host a super bowl. 3) There will be no Super Bowl in Chicago without a covered stadium.
So my educated bet would be that we will have some type of enclosed stadium regardless of what the fans want. Besides us old timers are dying out and the younger generation (future season ticket holders) will want the comfort of a domed venue.

nothing negative there.
1. I can almost guarantee the NFL will come calling to have a superbowl here. Huge market, why wouldn't they?
2. I don't believe this is a move to sell the team. the cost to build a stadium is huge. It will takes years to recoup the expenses, and the team's value will take a hit until that happens.
3. This is true. That's why most of us are talking about a retractable. Close it when it's 10 below or raining cows and goats.
I think this is an honest attempt to build a stadium. The McAsskeys care about a cash cow. Not a football team. Imagine the money they can make with shops and restaurants and parking and concerts and stuff.....

Retractable roof and problem solved, and I'd prefer it.

Name me a time when a retractable roof was left open when it was raining or snowing outside? I'll wait..
