Mocks are never right; and guys, specifically qb's fall every year. Mac threw against actual talent in actual games, not in shorts, they aren't comparable.
Again I would love to see someone dumb enough to take a shot at another Trubisky early, it only drops the other qb's that go after him.
WR in RD1 w/no QB is like putting 40 inch rims on a Yugo. It should be OT, Edge or ILB if no QB is there, or a trade back to garner more picks. All you do is waste 1 or more years of that WR by drafting him before you have your qb. WR/RB/P/K/OG is pointless on this team in rd1. I've been very forgiving of Pace/Nagy but they go WR at 20 and i'll be pissed; unless they got Wilson or another legit starting qb to throw him the ball.
QB/OT maybe DL/CB if right guy is there otherwise TRADE DOWN

So, I guess you will be shocked to see 3 WRs (Smith, Chase, Waddle) fly off the board in the top 10. You will be pissed if the Bears take Bateman at 20. I will be pissed if they don’t! He is going to be as solid as Allen Robinson for many years, and I have no expectation that he will be there in the second round.
I will be pissed if Bateman is available and they take a tackle in the first round. Other than Sewell and Slater, all the other top 4 or 5 tackles are roughly equal and we can easily pick up a tackle in the second or even third round.
Fortunately, I think Pace and I are on the same page. Unlike you guys, he wants progress in 2021, not 2023 — to keep his freakin’ job. I believe he has his eye on upgrading the slot receiver position, and that is why Bears have been looking to trade Miller. Getting Bateman would be a MUCH bigger boost to the offense in 2021 than drafting a tackle in the first round.
Having said all that, the QB position is still priority #1, and Pace should try move up if he can for one of the top 4, or else do what he can to get ahead of NE for Mac Jones. That is probably the best he can do. And I do like Mond in the second or third round as my “sleeper” QB in the draft this year.
Finally, the Bears have a horribly difficult schedule in 2021, so even if the team is stronger, the won/loss record is likely under .500 to allow the Bears to draft a QB higher in 2022 after Pace is fired. It will be a pleasant surprise if that doesn’t happen.
