seeing national chatter about Trey Lance having the highest ceiling but also the lowest floor. Any thoughts?
If the team drafting him has a great coaching staff and can train up a qb, then no harm in drafting him. Whereas, we are what we are with a questionable GM, HC and related staff.
1. I don't think 2021 is a make or break season for Pace/Nagy. The wheels are going to have to come off Trestman-like for them to get canned. I think we are looking at 2 years plus for both of them.
2. I'm not saying they won't draft Mills but I haven't seen anything linking them to Mills.
3. I'm hoping for an OT and/or trade down.

Mills drafted at 20! In the whole history of the NFL draft back to 1936, no team has EVER drafted a QB at the 20th position. That is a fact. Check it out. Is Pace stupid enough to do this? There are some mock drafts that actually have it happening. These guys talk about it, and perfectly describe my feelings…
I will be sweating Thursday night until some team — anybody but the Bears — take this guy off the board.
THe Davis Mills hype is all over the internet and TV this morning. He is going to be the #6 QB in the draft, and he is going to either the Bears or Washington in the first round. Possibly even New England at 15. Believe it. Pace might even trade up to get ahead of Washington. Don't be shocked. It is coming.

One thing I have learned about Ryan Pace is that he NEVER does what people expect in the draft. Never. So I take all of the media hype with a grain of salt. In fact, if the media hype is all about Mills being drafted by Pace then that tells us that it probably won't happen.

——— That is not quite what I said. The hype is that Mills is #6 and going in first round. They do not predict Bears take him. They predict he will go to Washington, NE, Tampa or Bears.

Sorry about that. Reading comprehension is not one of my strengths :-)

———- No problem. I just want us all braced for the shock when he goes in the first round!
I'd warn everyone to beware of the pre-draft hype. They call the last week before the draft "the stupid season" for a reason. There's tons of unsubstantiated rumors, clickbait nonsense, and flat out intentional disinformation being spread out there, often by "anonymous sources" at teams trying to panic, fool, and mislead other teams.
I'm pretty skeptical of these things. Maybe Mond I could see in the late 1st bit Mills, with his injury history and limited starts, I think is firmly Day 2. There's also a contrarian element to this--if you are hearing a ton about Mills "moving rapidly up the board", it is probably NOT Mills who teams are interested in.
The 2nd point is that every year we hear predictions about next years draft class being either weak or strong at QB and those forecasts are no more accurate than flipping a coin. Some prospects fizzle in their last year (or get hurt) and others who no one was considering shine and emerge. With the exception of generational #1 type picks like Andrew Luck and Trevor Lawrence (who can be seen well in advance), foretelling the strength or weakness of a QB draft class is pretty much just random chance.
