Whitehair has quickly emerged as one of the top centers in the NFC. He has stabilized the position for the Bears and continues to improve each and every week.
12) Jordan Howard, RB, Chicago Bears
Howard has really come on over the last few weeks. He looks every bit like a feature running back. His ability to make plays in the passing game has been a pleasant surprise.
21) Leonard Floyd, LB, Chicago Bears
After a quiet start to the season, Floyd has begun to become a disruptive force for the Bears. He's currently third among rookies with 3.5 sacks.
It also tells you don't be to quick to judge anything. I'll wait until after the season to even really try to think about what we've seen from the rookies, and wait until year three to decide if they were a good draft pick.

A point I'd like to make about Floyd ...
I got a chance to sit down and watch the Vikes game a second time off the DVR. This time doing slo-mo on some of the plays. The Vikes were doubling both Floyd and McPhee a lot on passing downs. Both were still getting excellent penetration and forcing the QB to move up in the pocket. This IMO is how the line got their sacks.
Understand that this is an OL with two crap tackles but it looks to me like Floyd is starting to really put things together. I expect it will take an off-season S&C program to get him where he needs to be but I am hoping he will be really productive next year.

His arrow's pointing up this year. I'm hoping he'll be fun to watch in the latter half of the season now that he's gotten his feet wet and understands the talent he's going up against. He put together a decent game against the Packers and a decent game against the Vikings. Hopefully he can carry the momentum forward.

To a point yes but so far my eyes tell me Whitehair is the real thing. Any kid who can step into a position like OC that he never even played in college tells me this kid knows football and he's a "baller". He also now has the versatility to start anywhere on that line. That's a good pick in anyone's book.
Howard passes the eyeball test too but with a RB you never know. Some get off to a great start but get nicked up a bit and never fully recover. He plays a hard game and dishes out some punishment so how that will affect him longer term is harder to say. But for now he's a bell cow.
Floyd is coming on but his best games have been against less than stellar OLs so with him we really need to see where he's at after 16 games.

Glad you had a chance to do that and report on in chuck. That's something I wish I could do but can't. It looks like the lights are coming on for him now that they've simplified his role a bit more and if they pair him with McPhee most of the time I think it will benefit both. They're like thunder and lightning off the edge. One is speed based and the other is power based.

But at this point, the Bears need him to be playing well against less than stellar OLs. To me thats a good sign. If he was struggling against less than stellar Ols its a problem. It setups up experience and learning on the field. Plus I'm willing to bet that most pass rushers have their best games against less than stellar OLs.
