He had Paul Pasqualoni and Clint Hurtt in 2014...those are two very good coaches. What other excuses would you like to give him?
CornWash's pass-rush technique has improved. That is not about weight. I attribute it to better coaching.
David, much like Henry Melton, CWash weighed around 265lbs when he was drafted as a LB out of Georgia. And much like Melton he didn't become any kind of force on the DL until he got his weight in the 290-295lb range as he has now. So the increase in his weight and functional strength can't be that simply dismissed.
Bukus is correct. He's had Clint Hurtt as a coach ever since he arrived and I think we can see the impact of that now that they've moved him to DE for good but the funny thing is Hurtt was made the OLB coach last year so unless he's continued working with him on his pass rush Hurtt isn't even his position coach anymore.
I think he's just grown into the game like a lot of other players have. The raw talent was always there waiting for the light to go on. It may not be glaring like a 500w spotlight yet but at least it's on now. For a couple of years it wasn't.
I was referriing to his pass rushing technique/tools. He has some moves now that he did not have his first two years. That is not to say that the added 30 pounds is not also helpful. This whole unit will improve as they gain experience working. Management just needs to give them time to gel.

My guess is Clint Hurtt has worked with all of the pass rushers OLB and DE alike. I thought they should have played him at DE long ago and just let him hunt QBs and RBs. That's what he does best. I see him sticking around.
Defensive line The Bears need help along the defensive line. Akiem Hicks has made plays at times and is signed for $4 million next season, so he'll be back. Second-year man Eddie Goldman is the most dominant lineman the Bears' defense has, but he's been hampered by ankle injuries. Signed on the cheap for the next two years, the 2015 second round pick is a star in the making. Veteran Mitch Unrein is signed for next season at $1 million in his age 30 season. He shouldn't be a starter, but he's a fine rotational run stuffer. This year's third round pick Jonathan Bullard is the future starter next to Goldman and Hicks. He is a speedy and powerful end but hasn't yet put it all together. After that, the Bears have Will Sutton whose season just ended with an ankle injury. Ego Ferguson is on injured reserve and won't be back and Cornelius Washington is set to be a free agent. Expect the Bears to look to the draft for help here. The game is won in the trenches and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio needs more help along his line. Verdict: The Bears' 2017 starters will be Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman and Jonathan Bullard. www.chicagonow.com/bears-backer/2016/11/the-chicago-bears-all-futures-team/ ------------------------- This guy is predicting that the Bears will keep Unrein next year, let CornWash go free agent, and start Bullard. Bullard? I will be watching Bullard and CornWash closely for the last six games. If CornWash continues to outplay him, then the Bears should resign CornWash and start him opposite Hicks. Let Bullard be backup and CUT Unrein (please!).
OK, David has solved the DL issue. I agree we need to sign CWash.
Now I think we've said all that can be said so I'll close this thread OK?
NAH, JUST KIDDING.
I got scared there for a second. Looking forward to the next 95 pages.
We are thinking way too small here regarding CornWash. We need to promote the guy to be the new Bears president to replace Sweaty Teddy. The "Football Guy" we've all been clamoring for, was right under our noses all the time. CornWash for president. Make the Bears great again.
