Like you said, way early to say...Maybe we cut guys like Danny T and Graham and eat dead cap, or Foles opts out or... Other teams will be in a pickle too. This is first time in, at least 7-8y, that I did not take Gamepass. After 1st drop in price and our good games (wins) I will surely take it, but thats a big IF...

During this Covid-offseason I stopped paying attention to the NFL like I usually do.
Based on the current calculation method next year's cap will have to decrease. How could it not? Obviously every team is losing lots of revenue from ticket sales, parking, concessions, etc.
I imagine the owners and players will work out an amendment whereby they spread that cap decrease over several years averaging it out with future increases. IOW, I very much doubt that the cap will take a large one-year hit for 2021 as almost every team would face near impossible decisions and the players would be pissed too. They also threw in an extra playoff game in each conference this year (more TV $$) to mitigate the loss of in-stadium revenue.

It will get worked out.
I tend to agree. There might be an owner or two who would want to slam the players with a decrease, but most don't want to upset labor peace at this point. I could also see an agreement where the loss gets smoothed out over years like you said.
Would be interesting to see if the NFLPA could somehow use this to their advantage.

Yeah...if the cap were to be that low virtually every team would be facing a bunch of decisions they're not going to want to make. Will the owners chop off their noses to spite their face? Meaning will they be willing to deal with the backlash and loss of revenue in future years because people won't want to watch a poor product because some high priced/high skilled players are sitting on their couches instead of playing?

Just as an example...in 2021 the Chiefs are going to have a cap number of $193 million. Thats a lot of moving money around to get down to $175 mill. The Rams will have a cap number of $190 mill...again...a lot of moving money around to just get to $175 mill.

Some Capologists feel the CAP may get to the 185M range. If it does that 10M cushion will help us.

That's what I was getting at ^^^. I doubt the owners are gonna want to put up with the labor unrest that would come from a major, sudden cap decrease. And a lot of GMs are gonna pressure owners into finding a way out from them having to make painful cuts.
I expect there will be a compromise reached between the owners and NFLPA to soften the blow or spread it out over 5 years or something.

I got to believe this too. I mean otherwise there would be almost no FA market next year because otherwise no one is going to have the cash to add anyone except on a bargain basement deal.

Bumping and gotta get back to this point which was a valid NFLPA counter proposal (Old tweet from July). The NFL can keep a decent CAP limit next year of 198.2M as the ceiling. The 175M was the floor so there is room to go up. I never saw an agreement come out of this and am searching for what the "Next Steps" were or could be. Stay tuned....

Pretty much what we have been saying here ^^^^
It's really in no one's interest to have a sudden, massive hit to the salary cap for 2021. Virtually every GM would have to make painful and unnatural cuts. Players would be furious. And owners don't want to deal with labor unrest, especially as a new CBA looms.
It will get worked out. As predicted, they will amortize the paper cap decrease of 2021 over future years to avoid a sudden, massive drop. It's really no different than having carryover capital losses from a bad bear market in stocks that you can use to offset future gains on your tax returns.
