I agree with that, it was done intentionally. Either to motivate Cutler or Hoyer. Now I guess the Bears ride the 'can they find a starting qb' rollercoaster again.
Man the gift they had of not having to draft a qb every few years and wasted it.
Cutler overstayed his welcome here. Sure the Bears benifited from having a QB being stable for years but let's be honest for a second. Looking at Cutler's stats why has he been here for so long? He has only had 1 year of being above a 90 with QBR. That was with Gase and his extremely limited plays.
We all know Cutler has talent. No one is denying that. He has elite arm strength but his decision making is below average QB play. How many of the QBs picked in the past few years has similar stats or better stats than Cutler?
Luck Newton Prescott Wilson Wentz Winston Mariota Carr Bridgewater
This is a team who hasn't drafted a QB in 1-3 rounds since Kyle Orton in 2005. This is a team who skipped out on Dak while having 3 fourth round picks. This is a team that believes getting vet backups is better than drafting their backups.
9 QBs since 2011 I listed are starters that are either on Cutlers level or above him.
You ain't going to hit on a QB if you never draft one. I'm not saying draft one in the first every year, but at least try to draft a QB every other year in the first 3 rounds.
How many of those QB's did we actually have a shot at drafting?

Not sure how motivating a guy with a broken arm is going to help them. If you are a QB and your arm is broken, motivation isn't going to get it done for you.
Most likely Fox's comments were done before Hoyer broke his arm. Ie attempt to motivate Hoyer.
I'll give you Carr...but Bridgewater is not better than Cutler, and he may never play again.
Who did Bridgewater have to throw too? I believe if you gave him the weapons Cutler has had he do just as good if not better.
To be fair I said around Cutler's level or higher. I listed QBs who are that.
I just like to see this team start drafting QBs.
Well...he had one of the greatest running backs to ever play the game to take pressure of the passing game and a competent o-line. When has Jay ever had that?
I would like to see them draft a qb too...and apparently we're gonna get our wish it seems. I would have also liked to have seen them protect Jay a little more than they did too though.

Can't argue with anything you wrote. But if you had told me the Bears were going to have the same starting qb for 8 seasons I would have asked how many playoff games the Bears won during that time. I can't think of another team that had stability at qb for that many seasons and only won 1 playoff game. Personally I would have cut Cutler when Lovie got canned but hindsight is 20/20.

Teddy only had that for 1 season though and that was 2015.
