I just thought I'd stop by and see what's happening over there. My account's been deleted. How do you get banned when you haven't posted anything?

I still had some posters over there that I enjoyed reading their posts. So every few days I'd drop in and get caught up. My "way" on a messageboard is to enjoy talking with friends over the years. Just like I'd talk with friends at the local coffee shop. You folks know me pretty well by now... I'm not a Bears or football expert. Half the time my predictions for the Bears are wrong (LOL, you guys should always believe the opposite of what I predict). But I just like the interaction with good folks.
I think what surprised me with Rick's deleting my account was the fact that I have never flamed anyone, or denigrated anyone. In fact, I tried to reach out to the new guys there this past year - trying my best to "get along" with everyone. Rick decided to keep the guys who ultimately ruined his messageboard - by driving away his best posters. And he deletes 1 account - mine. Because I did exactly what he asked me to do - ask the people on THIS board if anyone wanted to take over the dabears.com board. I did what he asked and got my account deleted. I mean, how crazy is that?

I completely understand your feelings about it. I was just joshing a bit with the Titanic thing. You know me. Never pass up a shot at some humor when my twisted little mind finds an opening that may need some.
It's entirely possible that yours was not the only one deleted. Long ago Alex and I had our PM privileges restricted and since I never returned after that I never found out whether the account had been deleted as well.
Maybe it was just as well since most of my PMs came from HHM anyway and I never even read them. Why bother? I don't debate with sociopathic fools. All I did was send a message that if my privileges to communicate via PM were revoked then anyone else's ability to contact me needed to be eliminated as well or there would be legal action taken because that would come under harassment.
If that meant terminating my account then that's the action that should be taken.
Unlike you I said my goodbyes a year ago and all of my hellos are happening here as you and others I'd hoped would join us have. That said I do understand your position and I apologize if I took it too lightly with that joke. It was truly said only in jest and wasn't meant in any way to be a criticism.

And you know it was great fun for a very long time. It wasn't like we never got rude and crude at times either and that's what the "Anything But Football Forum" was for. It was still moderated but more with an anything goes attitude as long as politics and religion didn't enter into it.
Ten years ago there were time it was like a Happy Hour on Friday nights but then the Bears were winning more in those days and no one was getting in anyone's face about much of anything. Certainly not the kind of personal attacks that became rampant more recently.
Over several years I could probably count on one hand the actual number of posters who were ever banned for good and even then those came only after a barrage of warnings and brief suspensions. The moderators kept the peace and some of the members helped keep it as well whenever we could.
Some will disagree but I still believe the introduction of The Bar Scene where political and other topics where permitted to be debated without moderation eventually changed the flavor of what was happening. When that's allowed in one forum and feathers are ruffled it's almost impossible to prevent it from spilling over into other forums when it's the very same posters in both.
I was away for some extended periods of time on more than one occasion and it seemed like each time I returned fewer of the "old guard" were posting any longer including nearly all of our female members many of whom were great contributors to the football forum as well. The party atmosphere and the mutual respect we had for one another began to decline as well.
So here we pitch our tents again in an attempt to bring what was fun and good about DBS back again and I believe we'll succeed with that.
