I see football pretty much gone as a pro sport in next 20-30y. Maybe something will still be called american football then but it wont resemble to anything we have today.

Quite possible. More parents aren't allowing their kids to play football in the U.S. where 99% of the talent pool comes from. They keep trying to expand to global markets but it's mostly been a failed experiment.
Sure, there's still going to be people like Richie Incognito out there who will continue playing when they have no business doing so. I do think there will be more people like Andrew Luck who will get paid as much as they can and get out before long term health issues come into play.

We let our son play and I had mixed feelings about it. One night I was with him in the emergency room and he's in a wheelchair after a football injury - and I was feeling like a "bad dad" for sure... it ended up not being serious at all. Looking back I am glad he did get to play football. My gut feeling is that the NFL will be okay but it will continue to evolve. The rules will continue to try and protect the players better. The protective equipment will continue to improve incrementally. The idiot "fans" won't like the changes, and some of the players won't either (like the Antonio Brown saga now). But I think the game itself will be fine. And if some players choose to retire early, I'm fine with that too.
He's setting a good example for the kids looking up to him, no? That money and fame doesn't bring you true happiness... And your mental/physical health is a top priority for living a good long life?
Or maybe he just taught them that when things get tough in life you can take the easy way out and quit? Instead of dealing w/ your problems like real adults. Let’s not act as if he’s the only player who’s in pain. I guarantee you most NFL players are but they all keep on doing their jobs. Because it’s what you do. If Jocko Willink’s podcast has taught me anything over the years, it’s that giving up should never be an option. Speaking of people who were in pain but still got over it, I encourage you to listen to the Joe Rogan interview of former SEAL David Goggins. That dude is amazing!
Look, Luck is a free man and can do whatever he wants. I’m just saying people (especially Colts fans) have also the right to judge him.
Also, why on earth did he wait until now? He could’ve easily told Irsay back in February he wanted out and that would’ve been fine. Indy would’ve had enough time to prepare the strategy for the post-Luck era and probably made different moves in FA and the draft. They were all counting on him and now all of a sudden less than two weeks before the season, he just realized he’s in too much pain and lost the passion for the game? Give me a break.
On a side note, Luck had one of the worst offensive lines to play behind and just got killed repeatedly some years. Maybe if the Colts had protected the guy with a decent OL they'd still have the guy for several years to come. I'm really happy Pace and Nagy are providing Trubisky a decent OL here. If you are not prepared to surround your franchise QB with a certain level of OL and receivers then you shouldn't even bother drafting the guy to begin with. The Colts seem like a screwed up organization with bad ownership.

Sorry man, but that was a selfish move.
Luck doesn't owe anyone anything. His contracts not even guaranteed. Teams toss players off at a drop of the hat. Like that it's just part of the business. With what he's gone through already he gets to do whatever he wants. Besides I wouldn't want to play with someone who doesn't want to be there with his eyes always on the door out. Guys got nothing to be ashamed of. Timing sucks but it is what it is.
Steve Beurelein is about the only former pro football player speaking out against the retirement. Think about that.
I could post hundreds of athletes coming out in support of Luck. Doug Baldwin, Gronk, Barry Sanders, former teammates...
Or maybe he's the only one ballsy enough to face the angry Twitter mob. Nowadays saying the "wrong" thing is enough for these scumbags to go after you and your family in public, so I understand when certain people choose to lie and say the "right" thing just to shut them up.

Never claimed the opposite. I simply said that it was selfish to do it less than two weeks before the reg season. That's all.
