I think the Bears could have won this game had they had a real backup QB. All I hope is that that OL, Mitch, and others stay healthy.
How many teams have "a real backup QB"? No snark intended, just a serious question.
Very few as I've pointed out many times. 95% of the league's backups are a large step down from the starter. And if your backup is not, that probably means your starter really sucks.

Better question, how many of the current qb's would you take right now over Daniel and Bray.
www.sbnation.com/nfl/2019/5/28/18628195/nfl-backup-quarterbacks-ranking-2019 AJ McCarron, Texans Blaine Gabbert, Buccaneers Blake Bortles, Rams Brett Hundley, Cardinals Brian Hoyer, Patriots Case Keenum, Washington Chad Henne, Chiefs Chase Daniel, Bears Cooper Rush, Cowboys Daniel Jones, Giants(eventual starter) DeShone Kizer, Packers Drew Lock, Broncos(eventual starter) Drew Stanton, Browns Gardner Minshew, Jaguars Jacoby Brissett, Colts Jeff Driskel, Bengals Josh Rosen, Dolphins(eventual starter right? I won't count him) Joshua Dobbs, Steelers Matt Barkley, Bills Matt Schaub, Falcons Mike Glennon, Raiders Nate Sudfeld, Eagles Nick Mullens, 49ers Paxton Lynch, Seahawks Robert Griffin III, Ravens Ryan Tannehill, Titans Sean Mannion, Vikings Teddy Bridgewater, Saints Tom Savage, Lions Trevor Siemian, Jets Tyrod Taylor, Chargers Will Grier, Panthers
I'd say there is a solid 10 I would take over Daniels, and considering Chase's pay rate that's about 6 to many. Would I be thrilled w/any of those guys. Not many of them, actually none at 5mil a year, but I cannot think of any being worse then Chase has looked.

- Chase Daniel blows. At this point I'd rather have Bray as backup.
And that bad qb is gonna get 5mil, for this season only. Nice job.
I know. The backup QB situation sucks. Daniel is really really bad, but Bray is not the answer either. Surely Pace can find someone better than these two. I'm not saying get a great backup (not gonna happen) but surely we can do better than what we have. Too late to get one now I guess, due to no time to spin one up for the season. But it does suck that we have two really really bad backups. Neither is an NFL quality backup. JMO.

+1,000 on that. Several of those guys would be a huge upgrade over Chase and Bray. And I'm not saying we can get a great QB (not for backup) but there ARE better backups than what we now have.

all were steps up and all were similar per year pay or cheaper. its the cost and the shit play combo I have a problem with.
I was okay with chase originally he was basically an unknown, but now he is just bad.

I'll be interested in seeing what happens in Pittsburg with Mason Rudolph. I watched him play for Oklahoma State in the Big 12 and the dude is a classic aggressive gunslinger and has an absolute cannon for an arm.
Would need to sit a season or so to learn Nagy's system but IMO would be a solid backup and possibly even a starter.
I missed the game, but am watching it right now. Ryan Nall looks solid so far. And Wims has upped his game since last year... he continues to get better and look more polished running routes. The announcers just now mentioned how he's working on his special teams game too.
Do you think Ryan Nall makes the 53-man team this year? I read an article that mentioned his versatility. He can be a bulldozer guy who moves the chains, but also can run routes... and Nagy doesn't have a FB on the roster and Nall could be that guy too.
