I've started re-watching the 2018 season on NFL gamepass. Based on the games so far (Green Bay through Tampa Bay):
Underrated: Allen Robinson (was either dominant or double covered for the first few games at least), Cody Whitehair (that man is a menace).
Overrated: Leonard Floyd (from memory he got better later in the season, but for the first few games he did very little as either a rusher or in coverage - admittedly he was playing with a club).
Overrated: Leonard Floyd - What has he done since Mack has arrived? Seems like he has regressed. Maybe it was do to the injury? Let's hope he can rebound in 2019
Underrated: Roquan Smith - We have many big names on defense with Mack, Hick, Trevathan, and Jackson but the times Smith has played on the field he's been great. He has more sacks than I supposed great Leonard Floyd, has the ability to keep up in the pass, and can rush pretty well. Look for him to have a big name this offseason.
Underrated: Leno (pretty obvious choice) and Goldman. I think Hicks and the rest of the front 7 wouldn't be able to get to the QB so easily if it wasn't for him.
Overrated: Totally agree w/ you David. I was a HUGE Bullard fan the first day we drafted the guy. Unfortunately he's been a major disappointment so far. Still rooting for him but it's gotta happen this year. Final year of his rookie contract, so if he really wants to stick around for a few more years, he needs to show his potential NOW.
+1,000 And what frustrates me is how some fans figure Trubisky has to be a "Mahomes" or "Aaron Rodgers" or "Brady" -- or else he was a bum pick in the draft. I wish they could just appreciate that it's okay to have a guy who is able to help the team win a championship here. That doesn't mean he has to be Mahomes. Just be a damned good Mitch Trubisky. A guy who doesn't fall apart like Cutler or Grossman in big games. Just be football savvy guy, accurate with the football who you can count on to consistently keep the team in games - and not single handedly lose games for us. I'll be happy as a clam if Mitch is that guy. If Mahomes turns out to be better (or any of the NFL guys who are the darlings of the NFL right now) I am okay with that.
I loved watching Mahomes in games this past season due to the fact I just like watching good football players. But that doesn't lower my liking of our QB Trubisky. Heck, I like watching Tom Brady too, but that doesn't mean Mitch has to be a GOAT quarterback to be a great Bears leader and QB here.
I share your frustration, JABF.
My God, people need to SLOW THEIR ROLL on Mahomes a little bit. Yes, he had an amazing season last year and put up great numbers. Yes, he's clearly a talent. Credit where credit is due.
But..................
He benefited from being 2 years straight in Reid's system (Trubisky had Fox to 'learn' from his rookie year). He had an amazing cast of weapons (a stud RB, an All-Pro WR, and an All-Pro TE). And he played on a team whose strategy required high scoring to win (the Chiefs defense was leaky as the playoffs exposed).
It wouldn't surprise me to see Mahomes take a step back this year. Opposing teams are going to make adjustments. The KC defense looks even weaker to me now after some key losses this offseason. And Mahomes has lost 2 of his 3 big offensive weapons.
Thank you! Enough w/ Pat Mahomes already. He had an amazing rookie year no doubt. But so did RG3 and so did Cam Newton. And what did those guys do after that?
Exactly. Way too early to tell if Mahomes is the real deal - we'll only know for sure in 2-3 years.

Easy with the Mahomes truth talk. Remember we have a member here that has a big crush on him. I still think Mahomes had a fluky year and will come down to earth this year. after all, this is going to be Biscuits year.

Um Mahomes wasn't a rookie when he was putting up those numbers. Also RG3 got injured...

Technically, it wasn't his rookie year last season as he started one game in 2017. And that's the point--he had a full year to observe and learn from Andy Reid while Trubisky was flying by the seat of his pants with Fox-Logg at the helm and a pathetic set of offensive weapons. Our BEST RECEIVER in '17 was a guy who isn't even in the league anymore. Think about that.
