Come on now. That's not what this was about. This isn't about Cutler (whose made his share too) this is about Hoyer's limitations as a passer so don't go wandering off topic here or we'll send you back to DBS. LOL
But IF Cutler was playing you can bet your sweet ass that 4th down throw was gonna go to AJ. The only question is would Indy have left him that wide open if Cutler was throwing.
I'm just trying to keep it "real" here. Jay has turned the ball over 175 times now. I've watched every single one of 'em. The game-ending ones are particularly hard to stomach. Hoyer made a mistake today. It would take him several years to catch up with Jay in the "mistake" category. That's just the truth. We all know that painfully well by now. Let's not paint Jay Cutler as the 2nd coming of Tom Brady.
No one is painting Cutler as the second coming of Brady. If you think that is what this is about then I'm sorry. We are discussing a limitation that Hoyer has that affected the game today. Hoyer had a chance today, talking about today, to win a game and cement himself as a hero in Chicago. He had a chance, and he choose not to take it. If this is who we want as a QB than this is what we will get. A guy who can getthisclose to winning but never will. Does Cutler complete the throw? Don't know and if you are honest neither do you. I'll point to Cutlers 25 game winning drives while you point to the turnovers. But what happened today is that Hoyer had his shot and he passed on it (no pun intended.) What Cutler has done in the past has no bearing on what Hoyer couldn't do today.
If you think this discussion is bad, wait until the media starts posting break downs of that last play. I almost feel bad for Hoyer.

No one did. Cutler's name only came up in reference to that final pass and Brady's name never came up at all. In fact Rosenrant is the only one who even referred to Cutler by name. Shark and I never even mentioned Cutler.
This whole thread is about Hoyer not Cutler brother. That's what I'd call "keeping it real".

Yep, this and only four TDs scored in two starts even when rolling up 400-500 yards of total offense is gonna get some scrutiny. When Aaron Rodgers has a game with 400-500 yards to total offense he buries team yet we win won by 3 points and lose the other by 6.
Winners play best from the 20 on in not between the 20s.

I was reacting to this, "I don’t know if Jay Cutler would’ve come out with a win if he hadn’t missed another game because of his thumb injury, but I believe he’d have used his arm to get it to the best receiver on the field." and the inference that Jay would have made the play. Maybe I read something into that that you didn't mean. Regarding the pass by Cutler....maybe he would make that play. But it's not a given. We've seen the bad endings too many times here to believe that pass is a slam-dunk at the end of the game for Cutler.
The thread title says Hoyer isn't the answer. I'm just saying Jay Cutler isn't either. We ultimately need a QB who is better than either of them. That is my point.

And I agree. I actually think Hoyer gives the Bears the better chance to win right now. He has (over 3 games) protected the football (much to my surprise I'll admit.) And with the state the DEF is in, they need this more than anything else. If I were coaching, I'd have a hard time going back to Cutler at this point for that reason.
Cutler isn't the guy, Hoyer isn't the guy the guy isn't on this roster. Hasn't been for about 4-5 years. The fact that the last 2 GM's couldn't find a qb option in the first 4 rounds of the last 5 drafts is unacceptable.
Cutler is to aggressive, won't play w/in a system, and ends up turning the ball over b/c he holds on to the ball to long and again is to aggressive. Hoyer is overly safe and openly misses wide open WR's; how did he NOT see Jeffery on that last play? Barkely is not the answer either. The draft is the only answer. It's time that this team has a top pick invested in QB, first in over a decade(that is pathetic).
I don't blame Hoyer for maybe not thinking of AJ as his first target on that last play. Safeties were both back to the point most would think they are going to protect over the top(safety on AJ's side was actually back peddling right before the snap even selling it more), so forcing a ball to Aj with a CB under and in, and a safety over(pre-snap) on a route that was taking AJ to the endzone might not be your best option...i get the thought process to where he might not be the #1 option for the play in Hoyer's mind considering the pre-snap movement and alignments.
But IMO i think the play was drawn up for Miller to be the #1 option and he was open just past the 1st down marker and heading to the sidelines! And that's what i don't get. So yes i do blame him for the poor post snap transition in his head. It was a poor decision considering they had plenty of time and 2 time-outs.
But one can say they wouldn't have needed a TD if someone wouldn't have fumbled it. Nor would they been in the 3rd&15 or 4th&8 if someone didn't hold.

I don't either, as I have the ability to judge now what happened then (hindsight is 20/20 after all.). Colts disguised their coverage and tricked Jeffery and Hoyer into thinking one things. I'm just wondering why you don't throw to your best receiver in that situation no matter what. Especially when he had to see that Meredith wasn't open either.
So , lemme get this straight . We're gonna start the old guy ( and his 85 QBR ) cuz he's 'more talented' and throws the long ball better ( the 3 times a game that we do ) and we're gonna sit the guy who's QBR was 120 last game ( and has been over 100 in all of his starts )... but at least the old guy throws a better 'jump ball' to AJ ... like that's supposed to be a 'good' offense . Okay got it
