As much as I dislike most of what Rosenrant writes even he can't this wrong.

The Bears were fourth-and-8 at the Colts 28, less than a minute remained in a game the Bears trailed by six points, and Brian Hoyer hit Alshon Jeffery with a rocket into the back of the end zone for the winning TD in Indianapolis on Sunday.

That’s not what happened.
That’s what should have happened.
Hoyer chose to throw to Cameron Meredith in traffic while Jeffery was singled up outside and beating his man deep, but I guess 25 yards is too deep for the strength-challenged Hoyer.
Hoyer threw behind Meredith. The pass fell incomplete. Ballgame.
Hoyer had some great numbers — 33 of 43 for 397 yards and two TDs — and he directed a nine-play, 96-yard drive that briefly put the Bears ahead in a game that didn’t need to be played and looked like it most of the time.
Hoyer capped the 96-yard drive with a 21-yard TD pass to Jordan Howard. It was a short throw that Howard took most of the way. Hoyer also threw a wide-receiver screen to Meredith that went for a big gain. All Hoyer can do efficiently is throw short, but the bad, jet-lagged, chaotic Colts weren’t smart enough to take that away. The Bears have always depended upon the stupidity of strangers.
Undoubtedly, Hoyer’s numbers will further stoke the talk out of Halas Hall that he’s the answer. But wouldn’t the answer throw a fourth-down pass to the most dangerous receiver on the team?
I don’t know if Jay Cutler would’ve come out with a win if he hadn’t missed another game because of his thumb injury, but I believe he’d have used his arm to get it to the best receiver on the field.
Truth is, there is no answer for the Bears. Hoyer’s ability to score just two TDs against a ragged team is part of a continued pantsing of general manager Ryan Pace’s failure to provide hope at the most important position on the roster.
