Isn't it amusing how pre-conditioned we all are to love our drafts initially or at least find them acceptable and then in some cases end up very disappointed a year later? Happens all the time yet next year we do it all over again. LOL
At least when we can see where and how a player fits into the current schemes we can rationalize or imagine how it will change things for the better. Then all we can really do is sit back and watch it unfold.
I imagine Packer fans are happier with Gutekunst now than they seem to be more recently with Ted Thompson. Signing Graham and Wilkerson filled two major needs and I will always feel that if you have a good team already. One that can compete. Then a GM has got to look at adding a key piece or two in FA each year. As we can easily see with both the Bears and the Pack a single draft can't address every issue a team may have.
Even after FA and the draft we still end up a bit thin at OLB but we did fix nearly every other problem spot and added some younger depth with upside. Guys you'd like to see as possible starters sooner than later. Anyway it cuts this team now looks far better and far more complete on paper than it has in a very long time.
Not being quite as familiar with GB as I am with Chicago it's harder to comment but I think everyone was aware of the Pack needing to address the secondary just as we needed to address WR and both teams did. It'll be interesting to see how our new WRs match up with GBs new secondary and we won't have long to wait either.
Gonna have to check in with my Wisconsin family to see how well they liked the Packers draft.
