Yes...there were 2 teams that bid on him...and 29 teams that didn't, if we're going to go down that road.
But Cam is a stud #1, so either the injury is severe enough to scare off 29 teams or he is not a stud and combined with the injury 29 other teams didn't value him very much.
Either way the bears had to he fools not to sign a guy they already replaced on the roster. And cannot possibly replace a guy that will be 5th in targets how can you replace that...oh the draft in the mid rounds
You really gonna keep on with the tired sarcasm that Cam is #1? You only person you are trolling is yourself because you are the only one typing he is #1. I know it boosts your argument. But no one said it. It just gets kinda old.

LOL, show me any reference here where anyone said Cam was a "stud #1".
You literally made that up out of thin air.
You know how many offer sheets Kyle Fuller got as far as we know? One
There are lots of reasons teams may not have pursued Cam. Maybe they didn't have much need at WR. Maybe they were planning on using a high draft pick on one. Sure, the fact that he's coming off injury prob scared some away. Maybe they didn't have much cap space left. Maybe (and I would guess this would be a big one) they figured the Bears had plenty of cap room and would match anyway so why bother helping them out by writing a multi-year contract for them?
You know, it's ok to question and criticize when something is open to questioning and criticism. I don't have to be a swallow-the-company-line "yes man" to be a fan. And it's not like Ryan Pace has exactly been lighting it up at WR-management and has earned a lot of WR-street-cred in the 4 off-seasons he's been here. Quite the opposite, actually. He's probably failed at that specific aspect of his job worse than any other.
Look, I hope it ends up being the right choice. I frankly would have preferred to spend the draft pick we now HAVE to use on a receiver at a different position because I think we could have gotten by with what we had + a UDFA pickup. I wanted this draft to be pretty all defense and OL. Now that can't happen.

Sounds like you're upset and bitter bc you want things to go a certain way. Could be wrong. The thing about the draft, you don't want to pigeon-holed into taking just defense or whatever, the draft is deep at talented WRs. If a draft is good at a position, it's smart to add that type of talent when it's available.

That's exactly my point--we now HAVE to take a WR and probably no later than round 4. That wasn't the case beforehand.

But they may have a target they view is a much better prospect than Cam could be. I guess you could argue dump White, but that's a whole different can of worms, but a spot on the roster needed to be opened. Again, how you and I value Cam seems to be different than Nagy. Maybe he isn't going to be an offensive genius and we're headed for a world of hurt? I still feel the Bears have draft flexibility. There will be cuts and additions after the draft if the draft doesn't fall the way they felt. WR was likely a target before Cam was cut anyways. There was a need for a younger WR on the roster with real talent. We also don't know how Henry Hinestin feels about our current OL or how Vic values everyone on the D.
Once the roster is set, and we see how the season plays out, we will have a better idea of who was right, but I'm cautiously optimistic that Cam won't bite us in the ass in the end.

I can't imagine they would dump White (unless hurt in preseason again) since he has a large dead cap hit and no trade value. If he had been say a 3rd round pick instead of a #7 overall, I'm sure he'd already be gone.
In the draft we now need a DE and a DB for depth, at least 2 LBs, at least 1 OL, and a WR. Pace has some work to do.

I do not think they will dump White, nor do I think they should. The only way I can see it if he looks so bad in practices and preseason that they just feel he has no chance behind the scrubs we have at the bottom of our WR depth chart. Or he gets hurt yet again. Other than that, they should try to get him to reach his potential one last time. And if he does I really hope that he can agree to a reasonable contract afterwards. We have been carrying him pretty much his whole career and I hope he takes that into account. Of course, he actually has to do something good first.

If he wasn't a #1, then why is everyone acting like we lost a #1? People are losing their shit like last year when Jeffery walked(by his own decision not by Pace's who gave him a longer contract and more moeny). He's Cam F'n Meredith, he was nothing more then the 3rd WR on this team, and the 3rd wr was never going to get many more targets then Cohen or Shaheen; and that was if he was healthy, which by his own accord he has no timetable(moved to by start of the season, but what does that mean if he missed all of TC?).
And why are people so easily discounting Hub/Lemming(after his ranting)/Biggs, or any of the many others(Mills from espn chicago radio and the entire group of Bears all Access). Cam is a good 3rd/4th WR that is has the ability on a bad team that gets injured to step into a higher role. But GM's/HC's should want to aim higher, and their fans should want them to aim higher also.
Hell I'm happy for Cam, I think he ended up w/a all time great qb on a team that can likely use him as they don't require speed across all the O. He'll be higher on the depth chart and he'll get a chance to earn a bigger contract in 2 years; staying in Chicago limits his visability to 30-40 catches.

Am I making it up out of thin air? B/c people are acting like Pace just let a #1 walk out the door. Quesitoning his actions when all of 2 other teams even offered him a contract, and non long term, and none for large money; even the teams looking at him didn't think he was as valuable as Bears fans are acting like he was.
The were NEVER going to draft all DEF and OL. They were going to draft a WR and a RB as well as OL and Def. If those were your expectations, well even before Cam was not signed you were setting yourself up for disappointment.
I'm all for questioning and critisising; I did it w/Lovie/Angelo/Emery/Trestman/Pace/Fox; but that comes after you try and understand the move, not kneejerk b/c expecations weren't met. Back when it was talked about 6-7 mil being Cams possible contract I went back and looked at Philly and KC's O's(Nagy's similarities)and the 3rd WR was never worth that kind of cash the 3rd wr was at the same level as the RB and 2nd TE, if not a little behind them. And People insisted(not you not just here on this site, it was all over twitter) that Cam was going to be hte #2; Pace didn't give Gabriel his multi year 6mil contract to be 5th on the options, and that made Cam expendable. It really made him expendable after the coaches meeting when Nagy said he wanted fast WRs' that are crisp route runners. And it made Cam even more expendable when you understand that it's a WCO style YAC relying Offense. Cam fits one of those, 1 of 3 things the new HC wants, and is injured, and is going to cost way more then a guy that is going to be 5th on the option list is worth.
I hope it works out to for NO's and Chicago. I hope AR15(Cams replacement) and Taylor Gabriel and Burton, and the rookie and Cohen electrify the fanbase and no one is talking about Cam outside of how glad they are he's looking good for the Saints.
