Not a fan, I'd bet Cam outperforms all except AR on our squad. I get hes hurt but injuries can happen to anyone. Ill take potentially injury prone, homegrown talent, Meredith over Bellamy.

Oh, I thought I was having deja vu again.
I'm thinking Pace was more concerned about Cam's knee than we are. Maybe our doctors are better than NOLAs? Or they have a better feel for his recovery progress or lack thereof?

I suppose if it comes down to that it's hard to argue but if he recovers fine I'll be a tad salty about it all
I do not like this move, I really don't. Pace is great and then he does stupid.
He continues to shed talent. I don't so much have heartburn with his releasing Meredith (although I think it was the wrong move since the contract was pretty good - not great but not bad), but instead my issue is with saving money in certain places (like Cam) and then squandering just as much if not more on what I believe to be worse bets such as Bellamy and Sims.
Sometimes he really seems to know talent and other times looks like he has no clue (any recent long necked QBs come to mind? or almost a full off season full of FAs?)
He confounds me. Just when I like what he is doing, he does something I feel will bite him. Now, maybe he is right and Cam will fall on his face in NO, but I think he is a good WR with good route running and far better than average football IQ.
So if he had not made those other signings (Bellamy, Sims, etc) and then said that he did not think he could come back from the injury 100%, I would not have agreed but would not have been upset. When he lets him go and then squanders the money anyway, I get a little juiced about it.
I think you're trying to say that we've been Cam-Shafted?
I think a lot of Bears fans are just sad to see the guy leave. He made some amazing catches here. We've had so many stone-hand guys here over the past 10 or 12 years, and guys who couldn't run decent routes to save their souls. This was a good WR. Proven.
It didn't seem like an unreasonable amount of money to keep him here. He will be worth the money NO paid him. Yeah, I'm just sad to see him go.
To be fair...he had one good season and then tore not just his ACL but his MCL too. He LOOKED like a good receiver, but to call him proven is a bit of a stretch. I get we all wanted Pace to match as it seemed like a no brainer...but let's not make Cam out to be something he isn't. To put it in perspective, in 2016 Dontrelle Inman had about the same season Cam did. Anyone all broken up about him not being resigned(which he actually still can be)? Again...I get it...he was a home grown kid, but it's not like we just lost Jerry Rice.
Now...moving forward, here's some guys I would look at:
- Dontrelle Inman, think of him as Cam part 2 and he'll probably be cheaper - Jeremy Maclin, has trouble staying healthy, but if we want to talk about a guy who's "proven"...well thats Maclin. Plus he knows the system. - Eli Rogers, young with upside - Brandon Coleman, also young with a lot of upside and since New Orleans took one of ours...we can take one of theirs. 6'6'' 225 pounds...huge red zone target who can go up and get it. - Willie Snead, another deal where we take one from the Saints and since they're over the cap currently I can't see them matching. Also when you talk about "proven", he's it.
