Sitton: I tend to see it as you do. Once again we parted ways with a still productive key offensive piece before replacing him. The only rationale I can come up with his there are probably 3-4 interior OL who will go in the first two rounds that we can draft to replace him including Nelson if he falls to #8. These guys will cost half or less of what Sitton was getting and since it's a good year or OG and OC maybe Pace decided it was time to use that to get younger on the OL.Bray: This one is simple. His scouting report compares him most to Cutler. Pace misses him. LOL I think Bray is little more than one of at least two or maybe three developmental QBs we'll have in OTAs and camp. Little more than another arm who might eventually be worth something.....or not.
The Rest: I'd have to cheer this years FA. Pace has covered his biggest needs either with outside signings or by keeping his best FA intact. We covered the three biggest needs we had for upgrading receiving talent and each slots in a very specific way to replace what we were missing. This also eliminates any need to spend a high pick on a WR.
I also believe Parkey was the most accurate PK in the NFL last year not named Robbie Gould. So here again he didn't waste any more effort or money on a second or third best kicker. We also brought O'Donnell back so I consider a positive and again we won't need to spend a draft pick on either position.
Daniels always made the most sense for a backup to Mitch. He was pricey but as a mentor he'll be invaluable and I feel he can play and play well if he's needed. He'd be at least as good as McCown and better prepared in this offense.
I thought Lynch was kind of pricey but again supply and demand rules and again he gives Pace flexibility in rounds one and two. Fangio just needs to decide how best to use him and then get his career back on track and keep it there. Lynch has been a notable underachiever most of his career.
