Where have I read that Fuller does not want to stay a Bear?
Brad Biggs was talking about that on Mully & Hanley last Friday.

Thanks chuck. I thought that might have been the case when he was malingering last December after he came off the IR. Plus not picking up his 5th year option probably didn't help even though I think we all agree he didn't earn it.

Personally I suspect he doesn't want to be here (much like AJ). If true that means the only way to resign him will be to pay him like a premier shutdown corner. While he has played well this year, he is not a top 5 #1 corner.

I think he will get good money AND ALSO go to a team that is at least competitive in the NFL. Like AJ did. I agree that money is the prime motivator, but it isn't the only attraction to NFL players. You can get BOTH the cash AND play for a decent team. We have read a ton of articles about how the best FAs have not wanted to play for the Chicago Bears. A free agent, is well into his NFL career after his 1st NFL contract is over with. They know they have a limited shelf-life in the NFL and if they piss it away on a Cleveland Browns or Chicago Bears team, they will never sniff a Super Bowl ring. Can money be enough to bring them to Cleveland or Chicago? Yes, if it is enough money, sure, they will play anywhere... but if these guys get a reasonably comparable offer from a good team, then of course they are not coming here to piss away their career in last place of the NFCN... just floating in the toilet here.

I posted it here as something I had read but if I recall it was in a blog of some kind so nothing more than an unconfirmed rumor. Of course that's how it began with AJ to so who knows. What have you read?
All I have seen is what is on this board. I have three little boys 1, 3,and 5. My view of the outside world is through the tiny porthole of my phone on the off chance I am not working or running around like a crazy person.

Then you are a REALLY busy guy. I miss those days, even though they were crazy-busy days. We are empty-nesters now. If sure is a funny feeling to not have the kids and their friends here now.

I cannot disagree with anything you say. I was just saying that if he wants to go elsewhere, we will have to overpay to keep him here (if that is even possible).
I think this is also a consequence of the current CBA with the rookie contract structure. At the end of a rookie contract is possibly that player's only real chance at a payday. It is also someone's first chance in 4 or 5 years to exercise some control over their career.
I really can't criticize a young NFL player from trying to do both ... get paid and choose where they want to work or who they want to work with. I think that anyone would opt for a new job if it meant higher pay and a better working environment.

I am getting that eerie feeling that the same people now whining about the cost to keep our two current outside cornerbacks will be among the first to bitch when the secondary takes a large step backwards next season.
I still havent heard what the alternative plan is. We have only 2 picks in the first 3 rounds (unless Pace engineers a trade) and I think we all agree that OLB, WR, and maybe OL are bigger needs. So....where do we plan on getting at least one, and maybe two, new STARTING CORNERBACKS from?

Tryin' to stock your own football team singlehandedly ?
Ha ha, I do understand how that might have an impact on free time believe me.
