um. what? Glennon? is the thinking, "well, if i play Glennon i will call more pass plays." serious question, what does Fox think Glennon gives him that Trib doesn't? my best guess is a, "see, it's pace's fault. the rook QB sucks."
John Focks will always look for a scapegoat to avoid admitting personal fault.....always. Never being held accountable is like a mantra with him. He blamed Manning for his last SB loss and told Elway he planned to start Osweiler the next season and Elway was having none of that so bye bye Focks and the Broncos won with Manning as planned.
I think Foxs should have been dismissed after this loss. At the bye week there was hope we could be at least a .500 team. Since then it has only spiraled out of control. Seems like after losing the season and fan base, the locker room has followed. The only way the team saves face is by booting Fox out early.

They might have if there was anyone else who'd take the job.
I hear Loggains claimed he was late for a root canal and couldn't make the meeting and Fangio spent 12 hours in the can. Said it must have been something he ate. By 5:00P PM they were down to just the Equipment Mgr. but he'd already left for the day.

Fox is an idiot.
He'd have more chances to a) Keep his Job or b) get a new one if he lets air it out with Trubisky. He's the #1 Piece going forwart. He is the guy that could have saved Fox.
Fox is an idiot.
A guy known for losing when it matters and not being able to develop a QB could have turned that around. What's the Point of benching him? That Glennon does the same aka handoff to the RB? Give Trubisky the keys to this offense. Give him the freedom and playcalling he Needs. Give him the time on the field for development. He will make mistakes and learn from them. I'd rather see those mistakes this Season that is already lost than next when it all starts with 0-0.
Fox could have kept his Job if his ego and proud would have allowed it.

That is the problem with Fox. He genuinely believes that running this type of offense gives him the best chance to win. He just doesn't get it
Fox is from the era when coaches believed that three things can happen on a pass and two of them are bad. Fox's system works, but you have to have the following: (1) a DEF good enough and not injured, (2) a ST that wins the field position battle (3) and an OFF that can suck up time through a running game and completing passes to move the chains (4) a kicker who is money from around 40 yards
The problem is the Bears don't have any of these things currently. They had #1 earlier in the season but thats it. So instead of getting close wins you get close losses. They aren't equal or the same.
Its why Fox prefers vets to rookies (almost every coach prefers vets to rookies, some HCs simply realize that the rookie is better and can suffer through the mistakes), no mistakes closes the narrow gap between a close loss and a close win. But his vets aren't good enough and his rookies aren't getting the reps they need. Look at Sunday, Hall returns from IR, the team has deemed him ready to play yet they take Chris P (who was eating Cheetos on Wednesday on his couch) and give him 100% of the snaps rather than play Hall and Jackson together. Chris didn't make any mistakes, he also didn't provide any wow moments. Hall? No one knows because he didn't play. In Fox's mind the "no mistakes" > "possible wow moment." I'm not saying playing Hall would have made any difference, its just a symption of Fox-think.

Yeah... I get that. several HCs are from that era. But the good ones adapt. I had no idea he was so stuck in his ways. This kind of stuff.... his offensive philosophy should have been vetted in the interview. As should his flexibility and creativity. I've said it before. I was never a big fan, but I at least thought he would be a decent interim coach to get us to the postseason games. He was just simply a bad hire.
Even in the best of situations, this philosophy will only make for close wins unless you play teams like the Browns or the 49ers. Oh.... wait...
Either way, a very boring game to watch. Not for me. I want to see some real football.
