How much should Chicago Bears pay for Jimmy Garoppolo?

One more thing should be added to this discussion.  The real question shouldn't be how much should we pay but rather what's the asking price if he is offered up for trade?  No matter how much we spend adding one any QB will only add value if the rest of the team that surrounds him is up to those same standards.........or do we need to learn that lesson all over again?

Ever since the Cutler trade JA has been criticized for paying the price he did yet we would have spent one 1st round pick on Cutler anyway had we drafted him.  So we actually spent a 1st and a 3rd plus a backup or mediocre starting QB we'd no longer need once we had Cutler who was a Pro Bowl QB in his second year in the NFL.  We also got a 5th which we turned into Johnny Knox and I'd say that was more than a fair exchange of a 3rd for a 5th.  It may have turned out even better had his career not been destroyed so early.

So our net cost was more like one 1st and Orton.  That it when you really look at it.

Keep in mind that was the price we paid and Denver actually wanted him gone or should I say McDumb wanted him gone and actually preferred Matt Cassel and even Kyle Orton to Cutler.  If that was the asking price for Cutler what will Belicheat ask if he's 50/50 on even trading him? Look at what Minny paid for Bradford and what the Rams paid to trade up for Goff and you begin to get an idea of what Garoppolo's price tag might be IF the Pats even consider trade offers for him.
