I thought it was money. That, and he was starting to struggle some. That one season I think the Bears lost like 3 games because of missed FGs. I remember us talking about Gould in the old forum and many were all for getting rid of him.
It was probably time to be looking for an upgrade from Robbie Gould and get a better kicker. But the Bears honestly seem to struggle with this concept of "better" - we've seen this happen with coaching and player changes. Often with the Bears they confuse getting a new coach/player, with getting a better coach/player. The whole idea is to get better, and not just cycle people in-and-out.
This has pretty much become the trademark of the Chicago Bears over the past decades. The players/coaches change. But we are still a last place team in the division.

That ain't no lie which is at least one reason why I keep asking what's changed. We seem to have pair of GIGO's at the top. Everything they do seems to end up ass backwards.

Teddy values consistency
And profits. As long as those keep rolling in winning has always been secondary to him. Can't we just shoot him or something?
- 50 of 51 inside the 30 (98%) - 46 of 51 inside the 40 (90.2%) - 51 of 68 inside the 50 (75%) - 18 of 30 from 50+ (60%) - 222 of 224 PAT (99.1%)
Santos:
25 of 27 inside the 30 (92.6%) 34 of 37 inside the 40 (91.9%) 22 of 28 inside the 50 (78.6%) 7 of 12 from 50+ (58.3%) 125 of 130 PAT (96.2%)
So basically a downgrade?
Only the Bears would do this...
It this time in the season we are lucky to find someone able to do it. Hopefully he is all healed up and being younger then Barf we could have a good kicker with the re-re-build. The real question is..Can he kick the ball into the endzone?

I wouldn't look at him as a downgrade. The Chiefs had to release him because they couldn't hold a spot for an injured PK but I'm sure they didn't enjoy doing it and Chiefs fans were not happy either.
He was a soccer player before coming to the NFL and he's been improving. 88.6% on FG in 2016 and 100% this year before he was injured.
