I feel it is still silly. A receiver must have 2 places of contact in bounds to rule a catch not to mention the 2 step or by definition, possession. But a runner can break the plane and fumble IN THE ENDZONE but that would be still a TD? I am good if both feet are on the 1 yard line as long as he is still holding the ball.
That Cam Newton Flying TD to me makes no sense. I understand that Cunningham fumble crap, that does not bug me. It is the ethereal plane you can break in bounds but not have possession that gets my goat.
Time to add yet another chronically stupid statement from our chronically stupid HC.
Upon review, Bears coach John Fox would like that challenge back.
By the time he met with the media Monday afternoon, Fox had about 22 hours to watch the replay of the challenge that turned a prime Bears scoring opportunity into a turnover Sunday.
In that span, Fox firmed up a simple stance that every observer likely already knew.
“I probably would not challenge that if I were given the opportunity again,” Fox said. “And we’ll leave it at that.”
WTF!
Yeah John, and I wish I had bought 1000 shares of Microsoft at the IPO price in 1986. Then I could just buy the Bears myself and throw your incredibly dumb ass out the door.
Got any more woulda, shoulda, coulda thoughts from your last 2 1/2 years you'd like to share with us?
What gets me the most with the challenge is the lack of trust in your own game-plan and players.
You are a running team, with a powerhouse HB and you don't have confidence to get 3 yards in 4 plays..... You have an athletic QB as a power running team and you don't have confidence to get 3 yards in 4 plays..... You are a HC in the NFL and you don't have confidence to get 3 yards in 4 plays.....
Fox holds the red flag, so this is on him, his fears, and player confidence as a HC and nothing more. If you are truly in charge and know what you are as a team, then you recognize the situation and just go....you don't look for the easy way out.
