Imagine the damage that would have been done to Cutler if J.J.Watt was heathly! We caught a huge break getting him in a weakened state and still failed at the task. Once Watt is back in shape Texans are going to be a wrecking ball with that D-line and Watt will be defensive MVP again.

Massie could be alright. he is average and gets beat in pass pro because his footwork isn't good enough. I do think the bears draft a T and picking up Massie lets you take a LT or RT and swing Leno into the open spot. Is Massie's number high? maybe, but this is how Pace/ Fox have been building depth : find a Royal/ Massie and draft/ develop replacements.
I do think Massie will have some good games when he's not going against somebody that has great hips/ first step.

Don't forget how terribly Leno played at RT. From the comments last year by Fox and Magazu, they think Leno's home is at LT. I am sure we could do better than Leno at LT eventually but just saying he was worse than Massie at RT.
Massie was the biggest issue our offense had on Sunday and it's not even close. If he keeps it up, I'd like Long at RT and Larsen at OG unless Massie can play OG.

I agree with this. I don't agree with the notion that this was just a problem due to the quality of the defense. This is a problem with Massie. Slow is slow. He won't be any faster against other defenders. Some point out that Leno had a rough day also. He did. But Leno has more athleticism and is at least average... not great by any means, but there is a baseline of talent. Yes, he struggled as a rookie at RT.
Massie is not a rookie. He is a seasoned veteran. This is as good as it gets with him.
We have a real problem at RT. Maybe we should move Long to RT and put Massie on the bench before we lose our starting QB to injury early in this season.

why? Long was rarely good as RT, while hes rarely bad as RG, why make 2 position a liability?

That's a valid argument. I just don't see Cutler lasting many games if is the RT is as bad as Massie. I see that Mike Adams is listed as the RT backup on the Bears depth chart. He was drafted in the 2nd round in 2012 by the Steelers. I don't know ANYTHING about him. Maybe he can step in. I don't know the answer though. I do know that I don't want Brian Hoyer as our starting QB, anytime soon, due to Cutler getting injured due to Massie being unable to protect him.
Here is Mike Adams draft profile on NFL.com. (LOL, with our luck he's probably a "poor man's" Massie):
OVERVIEW
Adams has flashed talent at left tackle for the Buckeyes, not allowing many sacks when actually on the field. Suspensions for violating team rules and his part in Ohio State's "Tattoo Five" scandal, as well as various injuries, have kept him on the sideline too often during his career. He is not a flashy player, but he can do the job and has the frame for the next level. He will be more of a backup option when he enters the NFL and would struggle if thrown into a starting role. Based off his experience at a big-time school and frame, he should be taken somewhere in the later rounds.
ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Adams has a good frame and good enough footwork to not get beat at the college level. He employs a decent pass set to get back and anchor himself against the bull rush, and has the footwork to shuffle and keep his feet chopping when blocking to drive a man downfield in the run game. His big-game experience playing at Ohio State helps his value.
WEAKNESSES Adams is not a very exciting player and can struggle at times with effort-based issues that don't allow him to get much movement on the line when run-blocking. He is more of a catch-and-react blocker than one who delivers blows, and will need to play with more fire and look to unleash his inner-athleticism to be able to succeed at the next level. Those suspensions and injuries will also eat away at his draft stock.

Keep the faith JABF, give it another 2-3 games, this is his first game! Im not hes gonna get faster footwork, I just feel they will blend better and he will have good games for us, hes no Mills or Webb

So because Leno doesn't have the physical skills to play RT well and has always been a LT are we supposed to use that as an excuse for Massie who for four years has been a starting NFL RT? He should be a whole lot better than Leno as a RT I'd say.

Given that only one NFL RT gave up more QB pressures than he did on Sunday I'd say that's an accurate statement. And that doesn't count the hits or the sacks.
