I agree. I don't know how much Pace is getting but I think we can all agree it's a damn sight more than he was getting in NOLA AND it was another step up the career ladder. We don't know whether or not Fox as HC was a condition of his being hired or simply that we was persuaded to accept this by Ernie Accorsi who I believe is getting off the hook easier than he should be.Since he is or was an NFL paid consultant maybe we should look more carefully at how it's run and IMHO not well.
This kinda deal goes all the way back to when Mikey was forced to hire an outside consultant to hire Jerry Angelo. So the lack of expertise involved with hiring top talent to run their team has been a McCaskey issue for a very long time.
Is it OK? I think that depends on who you are and your personal choices. I once threatened to quit a management position if I could not operate the division according to my own plan. I felt I couldn't put my career on the line and continue doing what had not worked in the past before I was promoted into the position. Later on in a different capacity I terminated my relationship with a few clients as their Financial Consultant when they constantly fought against recommendations I made to them. I can't manage an investment portfolio for someone who prefers doing things their own way and then dumps the problems it creates in my lap to fix.
So I do see where you're coming from but we can only make decisions for ourselves not others. If Pace accepted the GM position with the proviso he hire Fox over Gase or Bowles well then he's paying the price for it now and it'll be up to him to fix the problems that created. Maybe it was his interference to begin with that caused GMcC to give Pace that vote of confidence in January and say that he would remain patient while the plan is completed.
I don't think we know the whole story with all of it's nuances but having now gotten a feel for how Gase wants to operate this team John Fox seems like the very opposite of the kind of HC he would hire so I have a very hard time believing he was his best and only choice.
