Looked pretty damn good from what little I saw considering he's never thrown an NFL pass before. I didn't watch all of the 2nd half, but the first half he looked pretty damn good against a top notch Def. That Car def is nothing to sneeze at and can confuse and create problems for the best of qb's. Should be interesting to see what comes of having TS and Lynch in a few years if both are developing.

The kid has everything it takes to be a solid QB in the NFL. He's a 7th round draft pick starting his very 1st NFL game - and on a BIG national stage. He had 2 picks, but never let that phase him. He looked as poised as a 10-year veteran. He was facing a powerful defense too. His passes were amazing to watch. Powerful arm. Even with the 2 picks (one was a batted ball that could happen to any QB) he looked very very smart with the football. Nice accuracy. Beautiful touch on the ball too.
I sure hope Pace and the scouting department can get us one of those kind of guys. And then I'm hoping the coaches can properly develop the kid.
I loved Elway's advice to the kid: ""Just go out and play," Elway told the rookie quarterback, ESPN reported Thursday. "Don't worry about making mistakes. Don't worry about turnovers. You're going to make mistakes. But just bounce back."
Trevor Siemian's 'body of work' includes comeback win in first Broncos' start
DENVER -- Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak emphasized, over and over again, it wasn't one thing that won Trevor Siemian the starting job.
It was Siemian's "body of work" -- his power arm, level head and ability to digest the pile of information Kubiak shovels at a quarterback --- that won him the job.
While Siemian's first career regular-season start wasn't perfect, the entire body of work was on display in the Broncos' 21-20 victory over the Carolina Panthers.Thursday night. Siemian helped author a prime-time comeback win against the defending NFC champions, as the Broncos turned a 10-point halftime deficit into a victory. Siemian completed 18 of 26 passes for 178 yards to go with a touchdown and two interceptions.
"Trevor played well, obviously he's got two balls he'd love to have back," Kubiak said. "He's going to make mistakes, he's a young kid, but man he played with a lot of poise. He's down 10 to a championship team, but man he plays with a lot of poise, he moves, he makes plays with his feet, he's going to watch film and get so much better."
As a former quarterback who coaches a team run by Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, Kubiak appreciates and values poise at the position. And Siemian has consistently shown it.
He has shown mistakes don't erode his confidence or cripple his efforts in the plays that follow. Siemian said he believes in the championship team that surrounds him. And Siemian has proven -- in the offseason and now in the regular-season opener -- that he paid attention to every moment when he worked with Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler last season.
"It's definitely different when you're on the field, no doubt," Siemian said. "We played in a lot of big games last year against a lot of great teams so I tried to simulate that feeling as much as I could, but no doubt, it's different when you get out there."
Siemian was the upset winner for the starting job when he beat out a veteran Mark Sanchez and a first-round pick in Paxton Lynch. Sanchez was released when the Broncos cut the roster to 53 players, and Kubiak made the decision to make Siemian and Lynch -- with no regular-season NFL pass attempts between them -- the Nos. 1 and 2 quarterbacks.
Kubiak did it because he is willing to live with the bumps on the learning curve. He likes what he sees in Siemian's response to those bumps. He has been able to bounce back from bad plays and make good ones.
"That's the way he's been," Kubiak said. "I've sat down with a lot of quarterbacks the night before a game and went through calls and have them spit football back at you. This kid, he's exceptional. a lot of confidence in him when I left the meeting and I told the team that."
Kubiak also showed it in the script of the first 15 offensive plays of the game. The Broncos' first five plays in their Super Bowl rematch were pass plays.
"I trust the kid, I tried to get him in a rhythm," Kubiak said. "Let the kid know I've got confidence in him. If he would have picked up the game plan and in the first 15 [plays] he saw six runs to start the game, I don't know what message I'm sending him. I wanted him to know I believed in him. The only way you get better as a player is for coach to trust you and put you in those situations."
That's why the Broncos have tossed Siemian into the deep end of the football pool and why they believe he's a good swimmer.
"We made so many mistakes as a team," Kubiak said. "But I thought Trevor handled his end of the bargain well."
Are you telling me he is better that Fales? I think not!
LOL. Last night the kid looked better than about half of the deadbeat vet NFL starting QBs. He's the full package. Powerful arm. Great pocket presence. Nice footwork. Beautiful touch on the ball. Smart kid. I would take that kid in a heartbeat over Cutler. And I'm not a Cutler hater. My gut feeling is that this kid is going to be rock solid for many years to come.
My hope and dream is that Ryan Pace gets us a kid like that. I don't care what round he gets the kid from. This guy was a 7th round pick. But he's everything you want in a QB. Watching him play last night just made me envious. He's exactly what I'd like to see the Bears draft for the post-Cutler era.

Ok, I get that, deadbeat vet NFL starting QB's.... but not Fales?!

LOL, I know you're joking. Yes, he's better than Fales. A lot better. Fales is a noodle arm guy who probably won't be around the NFL much longer. If he does stick around, it will be as a backup, not as a starting QB. The Denver kid probably has a bright future in the NFL. I am envious of teams that can find these guys, because the Bears have had their share of struggles over the past decades.

He could always sell noodles, his arm could be a walking billboard, not a bad gig
